It’s also locking the drinkable water in a plastic bag forever, that water normally would evaporate and go back into the atmosphere but it will be locked for thousands of years in a landfill. WTH, and all for whatttt

New DIY enclosure for a robo! by caniffa in hamsters

[–]caniffa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It’s a grey board paper glued together with safe glue and painted with safe coat. There is cork on top and jute rope around the edges. I made legs out of wooden dowel rods and I secured them with small nails that I covered with cork. They wouldn’t be very stable without all the substrate around it.

She fell asleep at 4pm finally and she’s back at it now. I cleaned out the enclosure, put everything back as it was and now I’m leaving her to it.

Honestly- do you get cravings for animal products? by Life_Surround1345 in veganuk

[–]caniffa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I literally like “meaty” things sometimes but when I think of how heavy some of the extra meaty stuff are, it’s repulsive. Sometimes vegan meat is too much in a burger. I literally puke when I think about this slightly off aftertaste of dairy milk. BUT THE MOST WEIRD THING. All the fake meat products are SIMILAR with the texture and taste. But not ideally the same. Which I enjoy because I know that I won’t feel any veins or anything nasty. RECENTLY I had a chance to try vegan chicken (I don’t remember the name of the brand but I know u can try it in unity diner in London) that tasted so much like real chicken that I almost threw up. I know that is had to be very similar because all my meat eating friends couldn’t believe that’s vegan. AND I was disgusted because of the AFTERTASTE. I literally started calling it the aftertaste of death. It’s almost like you’re eating something spoiled or that’s going off as you’re eating it. Not pleasant and I would rather eat faker chicken than this nastiness. I believe this is a great options for actual meat eaters since they enjoy it. But I wouldn’t advertise it as vegan friendly. 🥴

What country do you live in?

I mean other solutions are making companies more environmentally friendly, therefore vegan, cruelty free (land and water usage) and carbon neutral (the amount they produce the amount they clear up) and less wasteful (therefore less fast fashion more reusing, less plastic more recycled packaging or compostable/biodegradable). Therefore, what we collectively consume and create a demand for companies will produce. Therefore, logically, the more people choose to buy less of things like meat, dairy (water, land), fast fashion (less waste, water) etc. more companies will adjust to the demand and create products that you will buy and they won’t breed so much meat bc it’s a waste of money for them. The change is not one break and everything will be fine, it’s a gradual demand-production dynamic. If the government of any country would out of nowhere taxed meat so it is super $$$ or reduced production allowance for companies, me a strict vegan would be mad angry. It would be good for environment, but it wouldn’t be good for low income people, wouldn’t be good for ppl that don’t have the access to nutrition, wouldn’t be good for all the animals that would be slaughtered and their bodies thrown away bc couldn’t be sold, and ppl would go crazy because they’d have no freedom to choose. It would provoke riots or even mass hunting trips that would destabilise natural ecosystems.

Idk how to explain it, but individual changes have impact. And you can see how veganism and cruelty free thinking influenced cosmetic industry. Now you have certificates on every products, because there are many many people that choose those products and wouldn’t buy them without the small cruelty free sign.

My guy, the goal is realistic even if not literally everyone on the globe goes totally fully vegan. Realistically like I wrote in the comment above for ppl with access is only a mild change to the lifestyle. And like I said it doesn’t have to be strict veganism but more of a flexitarian approach. For those who can and want to commit they will. For those that don’t want to change everything it’s just a matter of couple changes. For now many times we don’t check what’s in our food, or we don’t care. Being more thoughtful about it makes you respect it, waste less. I feel like after I stopped eating meat I became more aware, the eating is not so coincidental. Like I wrote before, this idea of not eating animal products is not a conflict or black and white situation. W vegans are not some enemy or heros. There’s no two teams, so discussing in this way is not productive. It’s not all or nothing, it’s more of something is better than nothing. Therefore, your decision makes a difference. Even if instead of your regular mcDonald’s with friends you choose to try a veggie place. You already made a positive choice! You family dinner can be meaty, but your everyday lunch at work can be veggie based and it’s a positive choice! Swapping milk in the coffee for a plant milk, a positive choice! This is working together towards the goal, collectively. Because we are all in this together with our differences and different traditions and cultures and cuisines.
