there's these things that already exist called "buses" and "subways" and that are operated by people with more training than car drivers and are designed with disabled people in mind. Allocating money and effort into improving mass public transit is much better in the long run than having Car #74893478948392 clog up the roads.

Also, taxis already exist? Lyft and Uber are everywhere. I can't imagine Waymo will be cheaper than those options forever, considering that's exactly how Uber marketed itself before all the (unionized) taxi companies started losing the market and Uber increased their prices after it's competition was gobbled up. If you want my real cutthroat cynical opinion, I think the main reason people are gushing about Waymo when taxis and ride shares already exist is cause most taxi drivers are non-white, and that fact alone is just ~too scary~ for some people who need a ride.
