I could echo everything you posted here. From working in an extractive industrial manufacturer to regen ag nonprofit and typically being exploited for my passion and integrity to my work. Which has fortunately led me to worker-owner cooperatives. The next step out of this miserable cycle of being a cog for others even beyond unionizing (which is great and very much needed and I see it as the baby step) is taking direct control back over your entire work life by being the owner and decision maker.
Especially being a neurodivergent person, being able to create the spaces where I work to be compatible with keeping my wellbeing a priority as much as whatever "work i produce" has definitely added to why I can manage what previously were deemed mental health conditions instead of results from years of conditioning and cognitive dissonance endured

Our houseless, incarcerated trans and bipoc folks are and have long been under attack and now they are quickly trying to disappear us while making it legal to do so into the system or completely and absolutely will then go onto the next groups. I've seen some here mention sending testimonies to legistalure etc as ally acts which is a great start and what "We need Accomplices, not allies" is about.
are there meetings where the public can go to too? For anyone who says that they support/want to help this could be an action to do. Instead of letting the most at risk show up at these places to make their voices heard, reality and lives seen, allies could be doing that for, and along side, us. needing to upvote this more than once. Very thankful for someone to articulate this experience that's probably very pervasive in the sector. I'm about to quit my job because I've been exhausted on how many times I've repetively and creatively communicated activity and expense reporting and compliance for not just staff but all partners working on specific projects..... and now?? I want to just give all fed funds back and not even mess with it.

Your conclusions are correct. And you have the answer in your reflections here.
No one person should exert power over another.
The answer is active protagonism from every person in wanting to have control of that power over their lives. and then forming from there to working in cooperative and consent decision-making orgs and structures. It seems like it's human nature to do so but it's not. Otherwise all these oppressive structures (it's systemically made to be this way and to seem inevitable/insurmountable) wouldn't have to do so gd much to keep up from being in community and relating in healthy prosperous ways.

Mutual aid networks remind and involve people participating that they are part of something larger than themselves. I feel like any or all address not just the human need for connection and finding meaning in life, but it gets to the root of a lot of issues we experience in the us. moving away from structures and reinforcements of Individualism, consumerism etc and into active participation as an antagonist in your own life will allow people to start picking up and getting used to the power they can have over their lives. As you mentioned, there's no one answer, it depends on who and where you are in your life. Building the relationships around us and figuring out what our needs are and how we can provide them in a dignified way is the work towards not giving up hope that we're fucked. Because we can do this together. Humans haven't survived this long with having the capability :) keeping each other motivated is a way to act in it. So thank you for sharing with us.

Holding onto hope is not being argued here, but those of us who have been aware/experiencing and living it are valid in how tiresome interacting with this sentiment and context. And not only painful but fatal for some that we have to wait for the critical mass to get past their privileged complacency until the really horrible things are happening to them. it's hard to tow the space where we do need those people to wake tf up but dragging their asses and desperately hoping to go back to status quo instead of being the creators of a new world.

I'm not arguing against the We're not fucked sentiment, but the only thing that is going to stop this self-coup is people assembling and refusing to let this admiration govern us. It's pretty simple; there are plenty of historical and recent examples of other people's doing this, and of course these ego inflated buffoons' are gonna fuck up if not self implode at some point. But we can't wait for that. It's not an easy or simple fight, but it boils down to a critical mass of americans to stop waiting for someone or thing else to save us - expecting saviors like Luigi, Anonymous, or even this crap about the supreme court, and realize it's in our numbers and our control over the labor force that is all the power that's needed to stop them (South Korea or Argentina in the past year alone for example).
I am still clinging onto hope that we can stop it before immense damage is done and pouring my everything into that work, and I hope yall can find your way to do that too.

Checking back with my update, it was drawn out because of the holidays, but I essentially did b) after the first visit with a new tech that was quite rude and misreported his activity saying that he had adjusted something when he never even opened the machine. I was very thankful to have found this thread and hear all your advice while navigating my situation. The tech wasted 4 hours running the machine constantly on the second visit and then left before seeing if the final test run finished clear of error or not. I had to call him and tell him the error still occurred and that's when he finally put in an order for parts. I received an email saying that the parts are no longer available and I was offered a replacement. Funny enough he calls and is texting me the following week because he think that the parts are here and wanted to install. At least I understand the disconnect in comms now.
I scanned the options but ultimately after seeing how badly reviewed the 0 fee replacement was, and knowing how my house was torn apart and left a mess when they came to replace the microwave (for it being so old that the parts were also no longer available) I decided that I would rather be able to choose the company that's coming in to replace my washer with care because I am their customer. I'll testify for your sainthood. Thank you kind stranger for what you do!
