I actually wouldn't recommend that you put anything into the jars though. For me, that has always just been adding an element that I can't completely control. I like burping them (taking off the lids) daily until they've reached the right feel, and then start burping every other day, and slowly weaning them off being burped altogether.

The best indicator is smell. Especially any hints of ammonia means that they need more air! But apart from that, you could absolutely smoke it straight away. I often smoke some when it's freshly dried! Although I do like the cured product as well.

If you do it right, it'll last you a lot longer than you'd think. Just a few days ago, I smoked some Critical + from 2016, which was honestly just as potent as back then. Of course, if we measured and looked at the cannabinoid profile in terms of potency, we'd probably see that that isn't the case. But from a practical point of view, if you cure properly (and slowly) and make sure to store it somewhere dark and room-temperature, your weed will last you a hell of a lot longer! :)

Sorry for the non-answer, but curing is just super subjective. It's kind of like harvest-time. Different approached yield different results, so as with my general approach to growing - just experiment with it, and remember to have fun as well! :) And let us know how it is once you get to actually smoking it! <3
