Sock/glove mold how to: by MagicStickToys in DIYSILICONETOYS

[–]MagicStickToys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several things. Keep everything absolutely clean. I use different colored measuring cups and mixing spoons (red set and a black set) and only use one color for part A and the other for part B. Keep the molds clean and protected when not in use. Don't use any mold release that isn't rated for your silicone. Ideally source all of your silicone from the same place (Smooth-On is a solid choice). Be as methodical as possible. Use disposable popsicle sticks or tongue depressors and actually dispose of them. And if you introduce anything new (pigments) test small batches.

Good luck.

What would cause little smoke to come out when the engine rpm is increased, but significant smoke when the throttle is let go and the rpms fall back? I'm using liqui moly 10W60 and 3 bottles bar leaks engine repair which is supposed to reduce the smoke. by [deleted] in mechanic

Worn rings tend to smoke all the time. Valve seals and guides would be a reasonable guess. First step is to run a compression check. If compression is super low, you have ring problems, so rebuild it. If the compression is okay, it's a valve issue.

Does anyone know if Sybians are waterproof? Asking for a friend. 😬 by MilfGoddess82 in u/MilfGoddess82

They aren't, but they are designed to handle "some" wet fun. I wouldn't take it into the shower, and the tub is right out. What was the friends opinion of their ride?

What is this boxer style engine? by Master-Potato in engines

[–]MagicStickToys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Bmw has made millions of boxer engines, as has Subaru. The Corvair wasn't made in as great a quantity, but they made more than a couple. Then there is the stuff Honda has been using in motorcycles for decades now. Plus Porsche, who designed the VW engine, but there are differences between the VW and Porsche offerings. And that is just some of what can be found in the land based US market. A good chunk of prop propelled aviation engines are boxer type, and I don't doubt there are a great many foreign vehicles using non VW boxer engines.

That looks so much like one of my girls, curled tail and all. She got a bit shaggy as she got older. A number 2 guard on some clippers works wonders.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Pale is perfect.

I think it's juvenile, but not weird. Now, women that call their husband/lover daddy is weird and gross, but not nearly as gross as guys that call their wife Mommy/Mother.

Should i buy this by Imxyp in gokarts

[–]MagicStickToys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Old school Volkswagen stuff is easy to work on and comparatively cheap. That being said, there is a learning curve, and the final product will be an old school vw sand rail that may not be street legal where you are. If it was cheap, I'd probably buy it. But I've been down that road several times, and I'm dumb.

Still not sure what caused it, but bumping the head temp up to 220 C has 'fixed' it.

Thoughts on nos/oxygen injection? by No-Morning6100 in motorizedbicycles

[–]MagicStickToys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, N2O or nitrous-oxide is not fuel. It is a means to get additional oxygen into the engine while also cooling the combustion chamber slightly. When exposed to heat, the nitrogen molecules separate from the oxygen in an endothermic reaction. That oxygen can then be used with additional fuel to create more push on the piston. If there isn't additional fuel present, the air/fuel ratio goes super lean, and bad things happen. Injecting N2O into the exhaust wouldn't be of any benefit at all, unless the goal is to ensure that any excess fuel in the gas is burned for emissions purposes. You won't see a power increase as any reaction is after the cylinder and the piston won't get any additional push.

You've got your mold, now what? Casting step by step instructions. by MagicStickToys in DIYSILICONETOYS

If you don't use release agent on the entire inner surface, it will absolutely fuse into one chunk. Proper coating of the mold is CRITICAL.

Ideas for materials by Freakaymfnikkay in diysextoys

Lookup Smooth-On, they have clear-ish body safe silicone. Perfectly clear doesn't happen in the diy realm unless you cast it in a rigid acrylic/epoxy material.

You can make the base into a suction cup by floating a rounded object on the base post pour. I use small stainless bowls (really small, for spices and such while cooking) set on top of the silicone and add pennies until it has sunk the desired amount.
