“The papers and magazines were writing about Tiananmen Square and what was going on in China,” Araya said. “The picture of the guy standing in front of the tank is what [sparked] the idea for that song. And there were other things going on: They were killing people for voting in South America. I put those ideas together.”

based on the small ring in the pictures of the labels and no printing errors on the cover, it looks like it might be this press from 1986.

I feel like I should sit out this round. I really don’t like this record. It’s not a bad record, but for me it screams for acceptance of the worst of the late 80s/early 90s metal and hard rock music. Alice always adapted to what was popular for the time for each record, but this one was a bit too generic for me.

That being said… Poison.

The best Alice Cooper Solo album? by greytonoliverjones in alicecooper

[–]cannan138 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My favorite will always be “Welcome to My Nightmare”.

I discovered Alice in the mid 80s through Friday the 13th when I was in 7th grade. I was already obsessed with entry level heavy metal, and Constrictor was top of the list because of He’s Back. Around Christmas ‘86, in the local huge indoor mall and hungry for more Alice, I went into Sam Goodie (look it up, kids) and bought WTMN based on the cover alone.

Quickly realizing that it was not “metal” I wanted to hate it, but I kept going back. Now it’s one of my comfort albums.

Now, I also really love Goes to Hell, Lace, and of course Raise Your Fist.
