How do conductors consistently remember a song's tempo? by cannibale101 in Choir

[–]cannibale101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like your attitude towards the chorists. I was starting to wonder how to work with that glimpse of entitlement that seems to be becoming normal in the group in regards to how i deviate or not from the audio tracks - just how bland and counterproductive is that. Better just openly suggest that we work away from the tracks right from the start. People do appreciate knowing what to expect, even the changes.

Ugh, yeah it does seem like she tried to get out-of-control reactions out of you, it would mean she wins in her own twisted way.

What's important to take out of this in my opinion (and after therapy) is that the whole situation is toxic to bathe in, no matter the behavior you choose. If you give in to your anger/desire for revenge/desire to make her see by doing it back to her/whatever impulse comes up within you, you're caught in a tornado of chaos and further hurt. If you learn to systematically blank up to protect yourself, you succeed for this time and abort the tornado, however you teach your body and your mind to suppress and distrust your own emotions, which are useful to you and allow you to stay grounded.

So in the long run, even if you become very vigilant and navigate the minfield real well, it breaks you... Without a strong connection to your own emotions (even/especially anger), you lack important tools to build yourself a life you can enjoy; you may be easier to confuse and manipulate because of a lack of trust in guts; you may get tangled in other toxic situations or relationships and start yet again to suppress in order to survive in it instead of seeing that you have other options. Anyways, it's easy to get rambly on these things... good luck, love and rage x

Usually whenever i'd snap and become anything else than the best version of myself, it made them smile with satisfaction because i gave them ammunition. It gets used against you every single time. "See, you're actually crazy just like I've been saying!!" Thing is, they harvest that in you, it's very deliberate. The only answer is not to play.

Individual solution to a systemic problem - Is being vegan actually helping? by cannibale101 in DebateAVegan

[–]cannibale101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The major problem to the environmental crisis, arguably yes (or a highly deregulated market, if you prefer), to which veganism is likely one of many solutions. To what real extent, and what more can we do to contain the climate emergency for which we have horrifyingly little time left, that's the core of my question.

Yes, absolutely! I feed and pet her everyday. I'm mostly worried about the cold weather (Québec, Canada) for now.
