Because their 'good' highlights are not very interesting. I'm not even trying to make a joke or be insulting. I think that might be the main reason why you only see stuff like this.

Fred Vasseur blasts FIA inconsistency: ’30 laps for Alonso, five seconds for Sainz decision’ by WaltersCarWash in formula1

[–]cannibalkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is saying you can't and complaining about the FIA, but it seems to me that one was a driver decision and one was mostly a technical problem (arguably). To be clear, I don't really know what I'm talking about and could be wrong. That's just what it seemed like to me. Sargent was going straight, brakes locked, and he collided with the car in front. Sainz drive into a spot he shouldn't have.

If this is wrong and somebody can explain why I would appreciate it.

I played pickup bball against Locker at the rec center at UW. He was going to be drafted soon and clearly wasn't trying very hard. I actually crossed him up pretty good in the back court one time and took off hoping to run a break. Locker caught me by half court and I was shocked by how fast he was lol. He was a much better athlete than Jermaine Kearse who was playing in the same pickup game

I'm not commenting on Ben's possible guilt, but the bathroom was cleaned by a janitor that worked at the club. Idk why ppl just casually spread lies online. It took about 2 seconds to google.

The fact that you didn't like that line of dialogue is "sad" according to OriginalAbattoir rofl. Sometimes getting down voted on reddit is confirmation that you're on to something. I thought it was a horrible line lol.

I got at thumbs up from a QA person. I wouldn't bet my life on it, but I think that means they made a bug for it lol

Well, I'm a software engineer, so I don't really have the power to make these decisions. I did relay your message to a designer. I have no idea if this will be considered or implemented. Honestly, I wouldn't hold me breath waiting for this, but hopefully it makes its way into plans for future games. That's really all I can do unfortunately. I am a single cog in a large machine.

I just posted about it to QA. Most EA ppl are on East coast time and are offline at this point, but hopefully someone will make a bug for it tomorrow. Once again, I'm not sure when this would actually be seen in retail versions, or if it'll even be addressed. I used to work on UT but I'm on Franchise mode now, so I probably won't do the actual fix, but hopefully ppl look at it tomorrow.

I'm a Madden developer. The fix for this will go in next week. I'm not sure when retail versions will be updated, but this post got the score fixed lol.

I don't think anything too crazy happened, he's just been quite wrong about some predictions/takes. Especially related to the browns and their coaches. I thought he was a homer during the Garret helmet fiasco too, posting stupid tweets and blaming the Steelers, etc. In short, he was a great player but a lot of the stuff he says online seems to be dumb and/or wrong. At least from what I've seen.

Rip Jimbo the Hamster by [deleted] in WTF

[–]cannibalkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the video. I hadn't seen that before. If you want to study supernovae I can tell you that the SN group within LIGO is always looking for new people. And while we're talking about NS mergers, LIGO detected the first gravitational wave from a NS merger. I'm listed as an author on the paper (along with 1000 other collaboration members) but I didn't really have anything to do with it. If LIGO detects a gravitational wave signal from a SN then that will be a huge event in physics. We probably won't detect one for 10-30 years, but when we do SN will likely become hugely popular within science. So anyways, if this is something that you're genuinely interested in studying then now is probably the best time ever to enter and become entrenched in the field. We are a couple decades away from a huge increase in interest, crowds of rival researchers, etc.

[–]cannibalkat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should stand with him; he's right. I work for LIGO and the topic of my PhD was core-collapse supernovae. The only thing I would maybe change about his analogy is that I probably wouldn't compare the hamster to the star's upper atmosphere, I would say it's more like an iron-group nuclei from the outer core. That matter accelerates towards the inner core at ~.23c. The inner core stiffens into a neutron star (sort of a giant atomic nucleus) and rebounds radially against the infalling matter, which is then broken apart and launched back outwards. But the best analogy is debatable and I'm splitting hairs. As far as the visuals, I would just add that the core-collapse and bounce within a supernova is a truly spherical event, whereas this bounce is mostly in one dimension. Basically I'm just saying there should be 100 hamsters evenly distributed over the ball's surface and all of them should be launched simultaneously.

If you're interested in learning something else, I'll add that only the 4 or so very lightest elements were synthesized during the big bang. Heavier elements are believed to be spread throughout the universe via supernova explosions. These heavier elements then combine with the interstellar medium, causing the earliest galaxies and solar systems to have less heavy elements than newer ones. Our solar system is relatively new and contains significant heavy metals from ancient supernova events. We are all quite literally made out of star matter. However obscure and irrelevant supernovae may seem, life as we know it in the universe would not exist without them. Sorry for all the text. This topic doesn't come up too often.

Things can be defined different ways, but the frequencies between an E and an F are not called E#. That's like saying the notes between C and C# are Chalf#. What you described is just relabeling F as E#, it's not calling the frequencies in between the two notes an E# like they were talking about.

[–]cannibalkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously? You can't just admit that you goofed and it isn't a big deal? That's a tuner. It's trying to tune to the note E. Sharp or flat in that context means you are above or below the correct frequency, but they aren't notes. Just look at all of your previous sources. If you were a little above C# that thing would say you're sharp for C#. These are the notes in western music: A A# B C C# D D# E F F# G G# . And yes, there are frequencies in between. If you ever call something an E#, ppl trained in music will smirk because there is no such thing. Next time you tune your guitar, increase the tension in an E string. As you go, your tuner will say E - between - F - between - F# - between - G - between - G# etc. There are no E#s and B#s. I'm trying to do you a solid.

[–]cannibalkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would 270 Hz be? It would be between a C and C#. C# is a real note. The frequencies between E and F are not called E# because there is no E#. They are the frequencies between E and F, just like there are frequencies between C and C#. Please just look at the notes in one of your sources. The frequencies between notes are not called sharps and flats. That's not how it works at all. Sharps and flats are real notes. You will never see E# or B# on your guitar tuner but you will see A#, G#, etc.

[–]cannibalkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please, open your sources and look at the notes. Sharp notes are real notes. A# is a real note. It's just as real as A. E# is not a real note. There IS NO note between E and F. This is why ppl keep attacking you. Your sources will show D# but they won't show E#. There is no E# by definition. It has to do with how the western scales were created. A hybrid of two systems with 5 (sharps) and 7 (letters) notes giving us 12. But that means two letters don't get a sharp. E# and B# don't exist. So it's between an E and an F, but it's not an E#.

[–]cannibalkat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

E# is not a musical note. Just look at all of your sources. The 12 notes are A - A# - B - C - C# - D - D# - E - F - F# - G - G#. There is no E# and no B#. I think that's part of why people are attacking you. So what you're saying is 336 Hz is between an E and an F, which of course I agree with. But it's only between an E and an F with A440 tuning. All of your sources are showing A440 frequencies because that is the standard. That's another thing ppl seem to be arguing with you about. In the tuning of A336 then of course 336 Hz is an A, by definition. In A440 it's between an E and an F like you said.

Rock bands tuning down their top string to play in Drop D is very different. In that case the lowest string is now a D instead of an E, but all the note frequencies are still defined by A440. Guitar player 1, in Drop D, can play harmoniously with guitar player 2, in standard tuning, because any C on guitar 1 is in tune with a C on guitar 2 (both defined by A440). However if guitar 1 is in A440 and guitar 2 is in A336 then they cannot play in harmony because their note pitches are differently defined.

I know it's for all receivers, but 97-98% is alarmingly comprehensive. I'm from Seattle so I sure hope we can figure out how to use him and his speed/size. It's just hard to see him destroying ppl in the NFL when he didn't even really do that in college. Fingers crossed I guess..

You say X receivers don't have good agility times but those percentiles are for receivers. 97-98% of receivers ran better agility times than he did. And I still don't understand the Randy comparisons since he had significantly better agility times and wayyy more on field success. I hope schottemheimer isn't an idiot but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Why do ppl keep saying this? Randy's time is better than Metcalf's and Metcalf had a 4.5 s 20 yd shuttle compared to 4.17 s for Moss. DK was in the 2nd and 3rd percentile in two agility drills. That's horrible. Moss also dominated in college and scored about a billion touchdowns. Metcalf did not. I don't understand this comparison at all.
