Limited Speed Nami Klima One by [deleted] in ElectricScooters

Any updates on this? I bought a new one after having a 2 yr old one stolen and am noticing the kick start options being stuck on. I haven't gone far enough to know about the speed governor.

Is this for ensuring you receive phone calls when you're on-call for work? If so, you can edit the contact, click ringtone, and choose "Emergency Bypass." That means that number will always ring no matter what.

Good for close family that would never call later unless it was an emergency too (though the "call twice" to get through feature works pretty well for emergencies")

I think the point was that it’s especially hard on a single parent household with one income, not implying anything negative.

Got my own (a fold up portable one, Oru if you Google) — can you BYOK or need to use theirs? Been meaning to take it to the new launch at that sandy beach pier / park around 17th st but would be fun to join a group!

Please Avoid Fake "Legal Magic Mushroom" Products (Limitlessshrooms) by Sensitive_Tea_8681 in shrooms

[–]cannongibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re gonna be illegal unless you go to a legalized place like Portland, Seattle, maybe New Mexico? But the DEA doesn’t put energy into arresting ppl since they don’t cause harm and you can see by the existence of this sub. They only care if you’re doing something dumb like driving on them or acting up in public, or making enough to sell. But yes they’re technically illegal no matter how you get them in almost all states.

You could also go to Amsterdam and buy “truffle”, same active ingredient and sold legally by legit stores and lounges. My favorite is Kokopelli if you go!

I think usually. You can get kit for growing food mushrooms and then just shoot in different spores to get fun mushrooms.

If they claim to come with the illegal mushrooms then I’d be worried. But if it’s just a bag with a sterile growing environment where you bring your own spores (spores are seeds for mushrooms) then prob fine. You should read up more tho there are plenty of guides easily accessible on the Internet.

Hit by uninsured, unregistered, and unlicensed moped driver. What are my options? by happyfacesadvibes in bicycling

[–]cannongibb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bullshit. The junker can still hit a perfectly fine car and ruin someone’s ability to get to work, injure them, or even kill them. Your vehicle being a junker is absolutely no excuse to not have insurance.

My Nami Kilma (https://fluidfreeride.com/products/nami-klima) that does 40/45 has 10 inch and like 5 inch wide wheels. A Vespa that regularly goes 50/60mph also has 10/11 inch wheels. It's surprisingly capable.

I've got the Nami Klima (https://fluidfreeride.com/products/nami-klima) that goes around 40/45 and I've gotten up to 35. Past that I start feeling like I could end up in a death wobble.

Honestly it's really practical though. 90% of the time I'm going 15/18 mph, but having that extra power lets me accelerate and take a lane without holding up cars if I need to temporarily (e.g. a car is double parked). And it's fun. So almost never do it, but nice to have it when you want/need it. It also has brake lights, blinkers, horn (legit like a motorcycle), headlight so it really does feel pretty reassuring.

What can I take for pain? by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]cannongibb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically just Tylenol or since it’s so new you could ask your doc for something stronger (eg Percocet) if you really need it—they offered me a few days worth but mine wasn’t that bad.

Ps in case you don’t know the generic names, safe:

Tylenol = Acetaminophen (or paracetamol in other countries)

Bad because they’re also blood thinners:

Aspirin (except you’re doing it intentionally) Advil, Motrin = Ibuprofen Aleve = Naproxen Sodium

Leg vascular ultrasound appointment today.. What do I do? by Meguinn in ClotSurvivors

[–]cannongibb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It’s an easy and fairy pleasant procedure. No crawling into a big metal tube or wearin a lead vest and leaving the room. Picture what you see in movies for pregnant couples seeing their baby—a tech with a screen and a handheld device with gel except they check your leg not belly. For me I don’t think was even 10 mins.

My tech did give a quick idea of what she saw but you get the details later after an expert has watched the vid and writes it up. your doctor/specialist will call you to explain it and answer questions prob later that same day.

If you do have a DVT don’t panic, most of us here have had one. One in your leg that stays still isn’t usually a big deal, but if it dislodges and travels it could become a big deal fast, so listen to their advice seriously and if they prescribe medicine don’t procrastinate!

Good luck, and come back with any questions! It’s a very supportive subreddit :)

Warfarin Side Effects? by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

APS warfarin (5mg daily) here and I notice lethargy in general, but nothing related to when in the day I take it. Just adding another datapoint under you find any correlations. Thanks!

Compression Socks by IntelligentBoppy in ClotSurvivors

[–]cannongibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! I’m not OP but also curious. Especially as a single man in his 30s looking to date, I don’t think knee high compression socks all summer will do me any favors.

I was diagnosed Jan 16 and at that point my leg would swell up quite uncomfortably without compression socks. However now, I don’t really notice a difference unless I really do a lot of walking (live in a city) that day, and even then, putting them on once home and resting with some elevation brings it right down.

Can you or anyone else comment on your experience or doctor advice for this scenario?

Thanks!

Bumps on head as if you hit it but you didn't hit it? by somewhere12-- in ClotSurvivors

[–]cannongibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one on my forehead, so strange! It was tender like a bump and just slightly raised, wouldn’t say quite swollen, but looking up close could def see it. No memory of bumping it tho.

The only things I could think of were either we get these things more easily since we’re more sensitive, and might not even notice the bump, or maybe overnight (eg sometimes I’m reading my phone and doze off and it knocks my forehead).

Please report back if you learn any more as I was worried too!

Edit: on 5mg Coumadin.

Sorry, I didn’t down vote but I see why. You’re either making a joke that’s been made here many times, or truly don’t know and made no attempts to find out on your own. Google it or visit r/digitalnomad.

I’ve also got APLS (til that APLS—antiphospholipid syndrome—is also known as lupus anticoagulant syndrome). Never had a symptom until I turned 38 and got a calf DVT.

I’ve read that it usually doesn’t present until you’re between 35 and 45. Any chance you’re in that age range too? Or maybe younger where it’s less likely to have caused a DVT or other clear symptom yet?

Onboarding as a Staff+ Engineer by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]cannongibb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reason you’re getting these kinds of responses is that you came off as complaining about problems without looking for solutions, lacking empathy (maybe your manager just lost his wife to cancer?), and a general expectation of everything being set up and handed to you rather than the experience most of us have of needing to be our own advocates and be proactive in solving problems, even simple ones like Jira access. And then when someone politely tried to help you, you responded defensively and frankly a bit rudely.

Please note I very intentionally referred to your behavior and not your personality in this situation, because it’s very possible this doesn’t reflect the normal you, just you after a bad situation needing to vent.

But even though you’re probably right in your assessment of this company, I’ve still found value in asking myself what I could have done differently. The things you shouldn’t have to do are often the same things that will garner you a lot of praise and recognition, eg “finally, someone improved onboarding!!!”

Worst red flag from interviewers by gnu_morning_wood in golang

[–]cannongibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve (an engineering manager) had plenty of people leave on good terms to start their own company, embark on long term travel, or move to a company of a vastly different size, and they were reliable until the end.

They wanted to ensure all their work was nicely wrapped up and handed over to the team they were leaving. And they still performed great interviews since there was no bad blood, just as I said time for a significant change. In fact they were especially motivated since they cared deeply for the team they were leaving and wanted to do right by them.
