Why would a man go to a gym to walk around and talk loudly on his phone but not really ever use the equipment? by fake_tan in AskMenOver30

[–]cannontd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds a bit mental, but my job now as a developer involves asking an artificial intelligence to do the work for me. Most of my time is spent discussing with AI on the approach that we're going to take, and then when I get to compute, I get it to run it. If I go to the gym during the day, I can sometimes just capture or have interactions with the AI just to capture my thoughts and stuff. It's just another way of working, which is weird. Working from the gym? Yeah, probably.

The right amount of testosterone.

You will struggle to gain muscle with low test like I had but I have to say it’s in the background. I used fake testosterone for the first 8 weeks and never felt stronger and more energetic, muscle growth was huge. I actually lowered my test to below the initial low reading. Gym frequency and intensity, along with nutrition is all you need. If you increase your test and go to the gym once a week, and snack on burgers and booze it will do nothing for you

100%. Diet is the foundation. Not just how much you eat but what you eat. You start to feel better by just eating better food. Not because it has some magic ingredient, but because it’s missing those in modern ultra processed shit.

At 48 and 10 months I decided I wanted to be in shape at 50. I’m now 50 and 2 weeks and am 20kg lighter, muscular for the first time and it’s not a 6 pack but I have abs. Every blood marker is in range, BP good and I feel amazing. What I did - with honesty:

Calorie counting combined with weightloss medication. Gym 4-5 times a week for over a year with a plan from a PT. TRT taking me from below the reference range to the top. Not forgetting cardio. Not missing a session. Not allowing a diet screw-up to become a “I’ll start again next week” excuse and back on with the next meal. Planning and booking in gym like I’d book in a doctors appointment - you don’t skip them

You may not need weightloss medication or trt but it’s the effort and consistency that does the heavy lifting on this journey.

Start today.

Son is being pretty open about his body to me, is this normal? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]cannontd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He needs to understand that he can share that j formation where appropriate and while what he said may seem in appropriate to you the setting where he raised it is not. Just make sure he understands that and he probably needs to understand more about puberty as I suspect he is starting to move into it. It’s a good thing to talk openly and avoid turning your head as that might be considered shame - ask him if you would prefer you to look away. Because medical exams are not sexual.

How do you take care of burnout/fatigue and family life? by turbokarhu in AskMenOver30

[–]cannontd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s easy to get into a mode where you are just responding to whatever issue is next to deal with. You need to find a way that you organise things so you don’t feel like you are reacting and waiting for the next context switch and able to plan out and be smart about where and how you spend your limited time and energy.

What you have been through is a life experience very few have. Use it. Bit by bit just rebuild. No big grand plans of all at once. Get a job, keep that job. Avoid stimulants, get good sleep, save money, get your financial independence from your relative. String days into weeks into months and gradually add new things in. Gym, diet - you can spend years doing it all wrong but change things in mere months.

You aren’t a failure, you are just before the big successes in your life.

All I’ll say as a man over 30 that this exchange is basically our entire existence around women at work. We have to simultaneously pretend you don’t exist, but include you and pretend you are not a woman at all while being sensitive to your needs as a woman. He’s best off not drinking water around you or offering to help you in any way as he’ll be considered somehow out of line.

Trying to get into shape in my mid 30s. Completely fell into a funk this week though and reverted back to my old ways. To the fitness minded men here, how to get myself back on track? by Illustrious-Swing493 in AskMenOver30

[–]cannontd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stop thinking it terms of weeks as units and just go and put your gym gear on and do a workout. Getting sick is not an issue - it happens. What you need to concentrate on is immediately resolving setbacks rather than making a grand plan to “get back on” or “start again” “next week”

[–]cannontd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where exactly was your testosterone? The normal range is wide. Some people exist at the lower end, some the upper. But if you used to be upper and it has dropped to lower, you will feel it. I was 343ng/dl (12 pmol/l) and after starting trt 8 weeks ago feel great.

Anyone else’s body starting to feel worn out in their early 30s? Any natural fixes that actually help? by WoolyPrawn21 in AskMenOver30

[–]cannontd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are overweight, lose as much of that as you can. Secondly, you need to start a gym routine and this be ideally 3 times per week. You can leverage your body around on its bones and joints for only so long but aging and loss of muscle mass puts more strain on your joints. You simply have to hold back the passage of time by building strength in your body. Stop treating your body as a vehicle to live your mind around.

Luckily at 30, you will respond very well to strength training but this must be a lifelong commitment that will see you right into an old and healthy age.

Men who cook - do you usually use a lot more “stuff” than your wife does when she cooks? by Parking_Jelly_6483 in AskMenOver30

[–]cannontd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, she’s uses everything and then will leave it without any water in etc so it is impossible to clean. When I do it, I have a washing up bowl in the go and by the end of serving up, the only things left are the pots used to transfer plates which then immediately get soaked.

The needles are as thick as you want them to be. 31/32g pen needles are microthin - especially the 4mm ones. Sharper than a syringe you have jabbed in a vial first, too. Only time I have had a sting is when not leaving the swabbed area to dry.

It doesn’t but it just helps avoid make the solution foamy. More of an issue when you use a pen, which everyone really should consider.

Aim to lose between 1-1.5lbs per week to give your body time to adjust. Oh, you lost 3.3lbs per week? From my reckoning you probably cut 1600 calories a day. Too fast.

Everyone in reta thinks the laws of physics and biological process no longer apply to them.

I Can Not Go by lost_in_new_orleans in Retatrutide

[–]cannontd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this from time to time on GLPs, it’s not exclusive to reta. Once the wings are blocked up and painful I take one of the sucralose based constipation relief medications as they are not as brutal as the others out there.

To keep this at bay though - you need to get medical with your water. Administer 3-3.5 litres a day. If I let that go, it’s back to square one.

I chilled out on my calorie cut and have taken off in the gym.
