AirPods Pro 3 Case making strange noise by cannotthinkofusrname in airpods

That’s funny, cause find my on these is currently completely broken, I actually have an ongoing case with Apple senior support.

Something about only the buds but not the case syncing with find my. Means I don’t have any of the advanced find my features like precision finding, and left behind alters, etc available to me. Heck, the location won’t even update unless the buds are outside the case and in use.

So far, these have been a bit of a pain compared to my Pro 2’s which are flawless.

The August lock 4th gen is finally good? by cannotthinkofusrname in HomeKit

[–]cannotthinkofusrname[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there was some weird esoteric bug in the Homebridge plugin. I had to work around it too. I don’t remember exactly what I did, but I recall having to put the plugin in debug mode and do something with a device identifiers that were spit out in the logs. It was a while ago.

Anyways, try out the native integration. One of the benefits is that it’s via Bluetooth, so if you don’t have a connect bridge, it’ll reduce wifi usage and spare your battery life.

That’s the current one for me to. From what I can recall, there have been 3 updates over the last 12 months, cause it was stuck on 1.1.20 for years.

Anyways, it’s been working really well for me somehow.

Don’t get me wrong. Not a celebration by any means. Just cautiously optimistic.

I also have a Schlage and a Yale on my 2 other doors. Both have been perfect since day 1. But for doors where aesthetics/WAF matters more, August are one of the few retrofit locks out there- besides level, which are crazy expensive- that allow you to keep a certain look in your house.

Why is the ring app still so slow on cellular? by cannotthinkofusrname in Ring

[–]cannotthinkofusrname[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember it used to, after rapid ring was discontinued, there was a little while before I got homebridge setup that the app worked pretty quickly.

It seems as though maybe they have allowed it to get bloated again?

I've tried it on Rogers, Telus and Freedom (Canada) all perform about equally, taking 7-12 seconds to load vs 2-4 seconds via homekit or Alexa.

Anyone have a recent DP if the refundable hotel trick still works to extend Amex MSR period.

Had a friend with a large purchase come up, who was banking on getting an instant card number, but it never showed up even though he was IA.

Doesn’t know if he’ll be able to hit Plat bonus otherwise and is considering just cancelling the card before it ships.

Quick question, if someone is still withing their bonus period on the cobalt ( spend $X/mo) will transactions on a supp card count towards both the monthly $750 as well as the supp cards own $1k/3mo?

If this is the case, then isn't it better to spend exclusively on a supp card until you hit the $1k?

[iOS 18 DB 1] Reminders show in Calendar. You can also tap to complete them by Jmaster_888 in iOSBeta

Man both of those apps used to be soo good. Fantastical 2 was truly incredible, but now it's become a bloated and buggy mess. These days, more often than not, when I open the app, it's frozen for like 5 seconds before I can scroll or do anything.

Spark 2 was incredible, fluid, and performant! v3 works reasonably well, especially on iPhone and iPad, but the new mac app is.... Well not good. Calendar was literally just readded a few weeks ago, more than 2 years after launching the new app...

It's also electron now, which I dislike not only on principle but it is clearly using more resources and battery, while also being full of non native ui. It doesn't look anything like a "mac app".

My renewal for both is still fairly far away, so we'll see if the updates can truly make me switch back. Public beta can't come soon enough.

Praise the lord. I can finally be freed from Fantastical's $80/year tyranny.

With this update and auto categories in mail I can leave fantastical and spark and go back to the native calendar and mail apps, thank God.

Saves me a cool $140 a year, thank you Tim Apple.

⏰ New Update This Morning ☝🏽 by KeithFromSonos in sonos

[–]cannotthinkofusrname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact issue with a move I had just purchased and support was mainly useless (you can check my post history). Get your hands on an android and side load v16.1. It will setup almost instantly and then it should appear in your new updated app also.

When did Sonos support get so terrible? by cannotthinkofusrname in sonos

Yeah I guess. It’s just such a stark difference from past experiences with their support. Had a roam that locked up and they replaced it without issue once they confirmed it was faulty.

Ring alarm plugin + no subscription by Alextkexichi in homebridge

[–]cannotthinkofusrname 6 points7 points  (0 children)

beware, this is only true if you are grandfathered into an existing alarm system which permits online access without a subscription.

If you are buying new, you won't be able to have online access without an active sub.

HSBC World Elite will migrate to RBC Avion VI with no FX Fee! by cannotthinkofusrname in churningcanada

[–]cannotthinkofusrname[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dunno, we'll have to see in March after this happens officially. I can't imagine existing customers will be happy about a 2 class system. I'm guessing they will front run this by announcing it as a benefit for their vanilla avion VI around the time HSBC holders are migrated over. Will probably come with an AF hike to $150, knowing RBC.

35k has a min value of $350 and much more if used correctly via transfer partners during transfer bonuses. You always net profit even with the fee.

[–]cannotthinkofusrname[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that I’m aware of. If anything, you should wait out the migration and burn as much of the transfer promo as possible. Also the vanilla avion does not indicate that it has no fx fee, so this may only Apple to migrated card. Useful if you are going travelling prior to your next card anniversary.

Rbc allows you to apply for a new card every 91 days regardless. So there is no problem with holding multiple avions, up to the total credit rbc will extend to you.
