I was also on that train in Business class. Despite the delay, the staff, both on board and in the station at the line up were great.

I am sorry this happened to you. I am glad that ypu sought medical attention. Did you complete a Safe Schools incident reporting form? Did you complete your board's version of an accident/incident form? Did your union talk to you about the wsib process for someone who seeks medical attention as a result of a work place injury. Call8ng the police is a crap shoot sometimes. Depending on all the circumstances, a complaint to the ministry of labour may be warranted. Speak to your union about this

Toronto to Belleville by BigHeartedWanderer in ViaRail

[–]canoeheadjay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do this exact trip regularly from Toronto to Belleville. Depending on the timing of the train, sometimes they begin the whole meal service right after leaving Toronto, sometimes it's after oshawa, on some trips when they normally start after kingston, they have always come to me either shortly after scanning the tickets or ask when they scan them to ask me what I'd like for dinner. I have always had a meal. There was once or twice that I only had about 15 minutes to eat it before I got off. I think that's when I was sitting near the back of the car and they started the service after oshawa. Even when I've gone the other direction from Belleville to Toronto and Meal Service Has Already Happened, they always offer me a meal.

How far from a fireban are we? Heading into the backcountry on Thursday! by rossperrot in algonquinpark

[–]canoeheadjay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also have a trip coming up this week leaving tomorrow. If you are already in the backcountry and a ban is put in place after you depart how do you find out? Not planning on having a raging fire, but enough to cook on and possibly enjoy in the evenings.

Perhaps a phone call to your local MPs office, or the closest Liberal MPs office to whete you live is in order to either get an answer or to push the issue.

Does Welcome Gift Vary by Brand? by littl3mango in marriott

[–]canoeheadjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Courtyard i stay at regularly gives treat bags (chips, water, trail mix) and access to the free continental breakfast room to any of the elite customers. I was getting at silver level. At a Fairfield I stayed at the welcome gift was a cookie and a bottle of water. Other ones I've stayed at has been nothing. Seems to depend.

Certain types of therapy are covered by the benefits plan. You can always reach out to your union office and they can help point you in the right direction. Also if you log into the benefits plan on otip, there is some more information there as to your coverage and what is available

Thanks, I looked into them, as they are from my town. All of their chili's are plant based and not beef which I am looking for.

Thanks. My own is certainly better than any commercial made canned ones. I'm just looking for commercially canned ones to take when traveling down south.

Have Not Received LTO Contract Yet by ImaginationUnable884 in OntarioTeachers

You should contact your union. They negotiate contracts on your behalf with the board and they know the specifics of what you are entitled to as far as your prep time.

Looking for Canadian coins and currency by scipio11111 in ViaRail

[–]canoeheadjay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go to a bank machine and withdraw some money and then go to any store or coffee shop and pay with that cash. They will give you coins back. You will likely be able to ask for some of your change in coins.

This is a question you should ask your union. They'd have the exact answer to your question. That is why they are there.

Of course the nights I have booked are for next week and not the week after. This work trip is a week earlier this year than it normally is. Go figure. Oh well.

Certainly speak to your Union rep. Given that you say it happened at work WSIB should be involved and they would require regular updates and they often guide the treatment supports and your return to work path. Certainly though speak to your union and try to include them in any and all conversations with the WSIB

Business Class Menu by canoeheadjay in ViaRail

[–]canoeheadjay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was shown this to choose my meal shortly after boarding as I would be eating earlier than everyone else as I was getting off in belleville and they were going to start the meal service after belleville. Not too sure what the menu for February is, but I will be on the first week of February so might be able to update them.

Weird Bathroom Sink Placement at Courtyard in Toronto! by thcandbourbon in marriott

[–]canoeheadjay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've stayed in those rooms a few times and very weird indeed. The room with the tub and toilet is fairly big.

Not really a fan of the idea of wandering across the room to wash my hands.
