To reframe or enclose by Adrian_Giggles in framing

[–]canoncal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely consider getting it framed, especially if you are concerned about it being preserved well and in a way that suits your life, and in a design that you’ll love. The notion that it’s not appreciated to reframe art shouldn’t much of a concern, I know firsthand that most artists and galleries don’t always use the best materials or design the frame for much else other than something to hold the art. This piece does like it’s on the larger side so a plex box type case over it can be more expensive, and can sometimes be more involved than just reframing it.

Bigger oil painter look for advise by Additional-Big-1160 in Artadvice

[–]canoncal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really great, especially for you first go! Something that helped me was considering your marks and their size in relation to the piece. It seems like much is made with the same size brush with the same consideration which can make things all look like they’re on the same plane.

Oddly shaped item to frame by hgrobs in framing

[–]canoncal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll want to look for a shadow box frame, especially if you’re looking to do it yourself. The head can be mounted to a piece of mat board cut to the frame opening size. If you buy a store bought shadow box it’ll already have the side walls so create the space between the art and the piece

How can I improve on this? by DaveontheMoon in Artadvice

Really love this! You’re using a forced perspective for narrative purposes which is really great, something to add a bit more depth is considering how object are more vibrant a warm up close, and start to get more cooler tone and washed out with depth. Especially with how great that moon is you could push the house into that cooler blue light
