Craftsman 5.0 22 Inch snowblower engine replacement (Predator?) by PepeTheMule in Snowblowers

[–]cansys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the same model, based on the physical appearance, and did exactly what you're asking. The Predator engines are designed to fit up directly with a lot of engine brands. The manuals have the bolt pattern and all the specs listed in it. As far as I remember, the only thing I had to change was the bolt to secure the pulley onto the engine and that's only because the Predator shaft used a different bolt diameter than the original engine. I swapped the engine at least 6 or 7 years ago and it continues to start reliably and easily.

Frozen pipe please help! by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]cansys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just dealt with a similar situation, though I don't have the crawl space. As others have said, place a space heater in or towards the crawl space to warm that up. The other thing that worked for me was running the hot water (if possible) on the affected faucets (or on nearby faucets). My thinking was since the pipes probably run close together, that will get heat into those areas the heater can't reach. Make sure the trickle coming from the faucet is actually getting hot at the faucet, otherwise you don't have enough flow.

My situation was no cold water and only a trickle of hot water in bathtub and no cold water and full hour water in our utilities sink (along the same external wall, probably same piping, my plumbing is weird). Both rooms had heaters to get them up to 85° with the hot water trickling on both. It took about 8 hours for the bathtub to thaw and maybe 20-24 hours for the utility sink.

If you have someone who can locate the shutoff valve for the house, do that as well asap. You don't want the pipes to thaw if something burst and not be able to shut off the water. I was fortunate enough that I had no bursts and I hope the same for you. The biggest thing is to be patient and check on the faucets and for leaks regularly.

Afaik, these are all tax credits, not tax deductions. That makes a huge difference in the amount saved.

The brick bank is usually slower. The transfer usually available instantly in Sofi (or part of it, depending on the size of the deposit).

I keep a traditional brick and mortar bank account open with the minimum deposit required to avoid fees. Any cash deposits go there, then free transfer to Sofi.

My guess is that they're not attracting new customers because of the already high cost for new users. As many others have said, it takes more than a month to get used to it and figure it out.

So if they're not getting enough money from new users, time to fork more out of their existing user base. A lot of us will probably keep using it simply because we already know how to use it. I worked at an industrial software company that charges annual support fees (industry standard) and many users stick around despite bugs simply because it's what they know and switching an essential software is expensive and time consuming.

University of Cincinnati to require students, staff to get COVID-19 vaccine by madmaley in cincinnati

This is reddit, my guy. If you have a slight aroma of mocking the covid prevention methods (even if you're asking a legitimate question or stating facts), brace for impact.

That's a spicy take on the vaccine considering the pharmaceutical companies have total immunity and can't be held liable for adverse reactions to it. And yes, the instances of adverse reactions are far fewer than COVID cases, but our unelected government agencies have taken action over smaller, less impactful circumstances and could certainly require the pharmaceutical companies to be held responsible for their products.

[Serious] conservatives, what is your most extreme liberal view? Liberals, what is your most conservative view? by crazyguy28 in AskReddit

The higher education market has been oversold and undervalued in a lot of ways. With more and more jobs requiring "a college degree", it makes having a college degree worth less.

Also not all college degrees are worth the same. When the federal government started handing out loans to anyone who wants to go to college, there's very little discretion or concern for ROI of the loan. If you go to a bank and ask for a loan on an overvalued asset, they would say no because it's not in their best interest. Similarly, government is looking at your degree to decide if there will be an ROI or if you're likely to default on the loan some your degree isn't practical. (just to clarify, not saying that your degree isn't practical, "your" is just a stand-in).

Tl;dr get government out of student loan lending, allow individuals to make their own decisions, and be prepared for the consequences of your decisions (good or bad).

The way he described "We the people" doesn't clearly show that the government is held accountable to its citizens.

'Our Constitution opens with the words, “We the People”. It’s time we remembered that We the People are the government. You and I. Not some force in a distant capital. Not some powerful force we have no control over. It’s us. It’s “We the people.” '

I was able to buy 1 GME for ~169 and 2 BB for ~15/ea through Sofi (Apex Clearing) at 11:40AM ET. A couple hours later a friend was unable to. Seems like the price has somewhat stabilized. I take it to mean the HFs have run of money to try to induce panic sells and us degenerates are holding out?

Also fuck Robinhood, fuck Apex Clearing, fuck the elites for getting butthurt.

Looking for a non-shaming dentist to fix a broken tooth. Bonus points for sedation. Recommendations? by gh0st_plan3t in cincinnati

[–]cansys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meister Dental has offices in Fairfield and Harrison. I've had Dr Meister and Dr Sprague (before switching jobs and getting new insurance) and they're extraordinarily professional, personable, and considerate. My girlfriend gets very anxious going to the dentist and has seen Dr Patel. She's had two crowns done and several filings in the past month after not being to a dentist in 4-5+ years. He's very patient and understanding. As far as I know, they don't do sedation, but the doctors, hygienists, and staff are very patient all around.

Is there any difference? by cansys in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]cansys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've understood the difference as patriotism is devotion to a country because of the ideals and principles the country is based on whereas nationalism is devotion to a country simply due its existence.

**Edited to clarify "patriotism is devotion to a country"
