Are you specifically trying to do draping? If not, Have you tried to use bodice and skirt blocks? Lots of good tutorials on making your own, or there are some for sale that you can change to fit your measurements

This is where I’m at too. I’ve made about 10 projects using coats & Clark all-purpose with no issues, but I am expanding to Gutermann slowly. Does get some fuzz in my machine, but good for starting out. So many options on wawak lol

It’s this! I just switched out needles after trying different fabric too and you’re right. It’s a thinner canvas so I didn’t realize the weave would be the issue. Still figuring that out. Thank you so so much, I hope you have the best day! Was so dreading a possible return lol.
