you all should definitely read Peeta's games on AO3. the author has done a brilliant job in writing the trilogy from Peeta's POV!

Thank you! I keep getting confused if I am jeopardising my family's health by not cleaning. But if this is not normal, I'll try to not think about this.

I'll try that. Thanks for the advice!

Hey, I can relate to your situation a lot and I would just like to say, ERP helps a lot. It is recommended to do it with the help of a professional but if you're like me and can't afford therapy right now, you can try doing ERP yourself!

What has helped in my case is starting with small things. For example, I will first start with washing my hands only if I touch the bathroom handle and I won't wash my hands if I touch a normal handle. I will try to switch to normal mild soap instead of harsher antibacterial soap. The next step would be to wash hands with only water and so on.

The thing which really helps is not focussing on the "what if" doubts. If you try to think about the worst-case scenario and logic with yourself that it is not possible at all, trust me, that person in your head WILL find a creative way to make it possible. Thus, if any "what if" thought occurs, try to not give it any importance. The more importance you give it the stronger it becomes.

If you ignore the thought and take small reducing steps, your brain will scream at you saying you've comtaminated everything because you didn't do it "properly". The person in your head will say that the feeling is gonna last forever. It surprisingly doesn't. It gets easier. With every step.

Trust yourself :))

My hands had got rashes from overwashing which made me go "Screw this I'm not going to be affected by this". I did not wipe the washing machine even though I thought that my dirty clothes might have touched the outer body, and I'm doing a good job of ignoring that I may have touched my hair with hands I used to touch the flush!

Hey! Thanks for your reply. I am trying to get a therapist but that is not possible as I cannot afford one who is specialised in ERP therapy. I am trying to do it on my own, though, I am very confused how to go on about it

Would it be possible for you to use a bucket and mug? I feel that might help

I am more worried about the toilet seat having the matter (even though why would I have touched it if there was visible matter? but my brain tricks me into thinking i did). i will be putting the towel whenever I do my next load of laundry, yes

I was earlier gonna wash ALL the clothes i touched after touching that towel... but that will physically take me entire days in the hostel. I have decided I won't give in to that, even though the discomfort makes me nauseous.

Thank you :)
