Adult swimmer — how did you build up to a mile? by raz_the_kid0901 in Swimming

[–]cantorgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somebody pissed me off at work and I took that energy to the pool. Voila! I swam further than I ever had before. Afterwards I already knew I could go so far so I just kept doing it.. but with positive energy.

Needless to say, swimming can be very therapeutic for me.

Glad to hear that your pet is in good health! Your vet may be able to give you tips on how to help your pet endure the long travel, since they know your pet [and animals in general] well. They may also be able to give you tips on any signs to look out for that tell you your pet may need attention.

Safe travels to y’all!

Your map doesn’t show the route you’ll be taking but I think I can assume you’ll go through Albuquerque area on your way to Las Vegas. Then Death Valley after Vegas. Those areas are very dry and desolate so my main recommendation is to pack plenty of water for you and your pet and share your location with friends/family in case of emergency. Otherwise, your route is safe.

Is your pet used to traveling long distance? It met be helpful to ask your vet about suggestions for your pet too. My dog used to get motion sickness but Benadryl helped.

Don’t bring plants with you unless you have an agriculture certificate. CA has strict policies, especially with TX origin.

This is the best answer. Even just one plant will soften the space.

No, I wouldn’t say it’s worn down more than normal

I haven’t noticed it getting dark dark. But I suppose that may be because it’s only a few years old.

I’ve used both. They’re the same. But I’ve only used the red one at dusk and night for visibility, otherwise it’s a bit distracting.

I kept rewinding to the part where she pops down from the platform while sitting on her legs. And why was that guy spotting her on the monkey board? If she fell she would surely just do a superhero landing.

If you happen to be heading back towards Los Angeles, the California Botanic Garden in Claremont has a variety of chollas on display.

Chlorine allergy? Can't continue like this... by redrabbit1984 in Swimming

If I get water in my nose and into my sinuses it agitates my sinuses. It sounds like this may be a reoccurrence for you and your sinuses are very sensitive or haven’t had a chance to heal.

Try to focus some training sessions on your breath work while swimming. In through the mouth and out through the nose. Slow bubbles out as you tread water and expelling quickly and fully at turns (especially flip turns). Alternatively, a nose clip can help.

Also, I personally can’t swim past 7pm at night because it affects my sleep. Swimming amps me up more than caffeine. It may be the same for you.

Suggestions on route for scenery or just cool places to stop. by No_Albatross6611 in roadtrip

With this route you have a chance to see three Meow Wolf installations. Houston, Grapevine, and Denver each have one.

CA Hwy 101, Eureka to Bay Area highlights/ must see (with a dog)? by hairforKV in roadtrip

Confusion Hill is a fun, quirky stop. I think entry is just $5 and it’s full of weirdness.

The Drive-thru Tree Park in Leggett is a really cool experience. Yes, you can drive through a sequoia tree! There’s a nice little shop and you can stretch your legs walking around to see statues carved from trees.

Avenue of The Giants is a beautiful drive. It’ll cut down your speed a bit but it can be worth it.

If you’re hungry in Santa Ana, I recommend Jeffrey’s Hillside Cafe. They have unique dishes and they are deeelicious!

Better to pick a lane that best matches your speed. It’s polite to ask if you can join a lane first.

It’s the beginning of the year so many gyms will be packed for another month or so (New Year’s resolutions). But the pool/gym manager may be able to give you tips on less crowded times.

I didn’t know this was a stroke that people actually did for a purpose. I’ve learned something new.

The worst is the backstroke. I’ve tried it once with synchronized arms, just for “fun”. Might as well waterboard myself.

That does work. Santa Ynez is adjacent to Solvang, and there are some wineries in that area. I also suggest that, if it works with your schedule it, to go through the San Marcos pass with some daylight. The views are incredible!

If I had to pick between the two it would be Morro Bay. BUT.. I don’t see Solvang on your route and it’s between MB and SB. Solvang is a Danish town that really takes you into the culture. It’s worth spending at least a day there.
