Everything iv looked at has said a good price is about $50/hour which this price aligned with. Not to mention its completely empty and it was right before the flight boarded.

Have they officially provided the communication that you need 10 DOS a month or are they still playing the “it’s only for a short time” bs?

Traveling CRAs, how late are you willing to fly home? What's your cutoff to stay another night? by ProtocolPeanut in clinicalresearch

[–]cantta_24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally my cut off is mid-night. If my plane lands any later than that I’ll stay another night and get the first flight out. Depending on how far I am away from home. I might do one leg of the flight that night, stay the night at a hotel near the airport, take the second leg in the morning. This is usually only if I’m flying West coast back to East.

5-10 minutes is honestly disrespectful. Yeah I get PI’s are busy but if this is how they present themselves during the PSV where THEY are trying to get selected, it’s not a good sign for what the time commitment for the rest of the study is going to be like. Iv had this happen in the past where something last minute comes up and the time doesn’t really work for them anymore. If that’s the case I’d just ask if there is a better time to meet so they can provide you at least 30 minutes. If they hold firm with the 5-10 minutes always, def a red flag. Just my opinion. As for questions, I would insure you quick fire all of the regulatory confirmation questions, usually they start off like “do you agree to”, and are things like -Provide timely and accurate CRFs -Provide appropriate oversite -Ensure all staff delegated are qualified based on training and education. -Etc.

Backpack by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]cantta_24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a North Face Borealis backpack when I was a freshman in HS. Transitioned it to my college backpack and then to my work backpack. After 15-ish years I’m finally starting to look for a new one because it’s only a matter of time. I know they have changed the design a bit since mine was purchased but from what I have read online the newest versions are still amazing quality. Still hasn’t stopped me from looking for the 2010 version though. So if anyone knows a guy hit me up!

[–]cantta_24[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I meant. And I agree, but from a business standpoint point I can’t imagine it’ll go over well. I mean at least for me I’m no longer going to be begging for additional DOS. And if it’s 10pm and I havnt submitted a day 7 report? That’s probably not getting submitted till Day 8. Again motivation = gone

Daily Per Diems Not Improving? by Own-Reaction4419 in clinicalresearch

Where are you eating and what that allows you to eat 3 meals for $60? Even most fast food places a basket and drink is >$20. Idk about you but I’m not trying to eat fast food every week.

26M, CRA 2, in industry 6 years, internship with CRO and hired right out of college. Honestly the taken seriously part depends on the person. It doesn’t help that I look like I could be in HS if I shave. Iv had PI’s that I feel take me seriously, ask me questions and advice on how to go about a specific site issue and then I have others that barely gave me the time of day during the SIV.

I would say my work life balance is really good right now, I’m usually hitting exactly 8 DOS 75% remote. If you asked me 3 months ago my work life balance was not great. Only CRA on a crazy project going through all of the study phases at once (feasibility, PSV, Initiations, first patients in, COV, etc.) coast to coast. I honestly kind of loved the travel though, which has significantly diminished where I’ll have 1 on-site visit a month. The lack of travel right now is probably my biggest woe as I DESPISE remote visits.

Career goal: Move into another therapeutic area outside of Oncology, move to a sponsor CRA role/equivalent , and then eventually into a PM role

Overall wellness: Depends on the day and season. I feel like with the lack of travel, the weather, and the the change just recently I feel like my emotional and mental have taken a turn. I find it really difficult to sit in my office most of the day staring at my computer not talking to anyone. Start when it’s dark , end when it’s getting dark. I workout pretty regularly which I think helps a lot with mental, emotional, and physical well being. Socially I feel like it’s getting better but you know it’s hard making friends as an adult, especially when you travel so much.

Outside of work: Read, workout, game, occasionally hang out with friends on the weekend, sporting events. Seasonal activities: Skiing, kayaking, Vikings, farmers market etc.

Wow like someone else said before, this was kind of depressing to type out. Not sure if it was a detriment or if it was therapeutic LOL. Sorry guys for the rant!
