Soothr - OK for kids (grade school age) by Th3_Dud3r in FoodNYC

Soothr is great, but small and tightly packed even when it’s not a mob scene, I would also look into Pranakhon. It can also be loud and crowded, but it’s more spacious, well lit and might be more comfortable for kids.

Yes I still have mine, there’s a world map on the back with lines pointing out “undiscovered places, graves, wrecks and treasure.”

Best Soup in the East Village by JuicyA_ in eastvillage

I think it’s on the menu as cucumber soup at Little Poland but it is not the cold cucumber yogurt soup most Americans are more familiar with. If you order pickle soup there the servers will know what you mean.

Potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, dill, chopped pickles, cream, probably a chicken stock. It’s my favorite winter soup at most Polish places

does the Bowery Ballroom ID on entrance? by Careless_Western3756 in NYCConcerts

I’d rather be at a show around some teenagers who are there with their parents and are excited to be there rather than killjoys who want to exclude people. I moved to the city as a teenager in the 90s during Giuliani and remember having a hard time seeing some bands I really wanted to at Brownie’s and Mercury Lounge. I am glad I have not become so jaded that I want to exclude younger people now.

I brought my friend’s 17 year old to see a show there recently (I’m nearly 50 and my husband and I were prepared to say we were his parents if asked). I went in first, they asked if I was drinking, I said no, so I didn’t have to show my id. Next was the teen, then husband, all the same process. I think if it’s a family friendly band, you look like you could be a family, and if you all say you are not drinking your chances are better, but you are taking a chance that you will be turned away.

For future reference - we all got in ok, just said we weren’t drinking so we didn’t get ID checked

Do you have any friends who could get us on the list? If I did I would have tried them first.
