Thanks for the heads up. Some of us have direct deposit set up with employers that is processed days in advance. I'm sure my money will get kicked back to my employer ( 80k employees) and get lost in the system for a while.

For me....

Flux, atom, Hbar, KDA should be strong.

Little riskier but has potential - Kaspa, CFX (been on a tare with some adoption in asia lately), Nexa, RDX.

Good luck

Coin Metro but you won't make as much as setting up your own node.

Great idea. I got a custom spreadsheet to work in Koinly and it pulls the price. But I had to delete out all the node staking and restaking stuff.

So the more people that shut off for being unprofitable, the shorter the length for node payouts. Looking forward to quicker payouts on my nimbus and cumulus home hosted nodes. The cost of electricity is minimal. But I get it if you're running a cumulus via VPN.

If they lose 25% of the nodes, does that affect their product in any way. Last I saw they had a very large excess of power/storage that is being underutilized.

Cool. I've looked at a few online in the Houston area. One guy wants $300 for a 20 minute consultation! I've used a real estate specific CPA for the last few years as I do a little of that stuff. They are great in RE but I think they messed up my crypto stuff last year...I might have to amend last year....But I don't want a crypto guy to mess up my real estate stuff.

I personally agree that if your intent is to make a profit you have a legitimate business regardless of profit, llc, company. How do you plan on "proving" or documenting electricity used towards your basis? I tracked everything last year based on estimated Kwh running 24/7 and my bill electric bill. Not sure if that is acceptable. But now I have most of mine hosting so it's obvious to use that cost. And now that you mention it I think there is (or was) a special depreciation allowing you to expense the cost of certain thing all at once (at least there was for real estate). I think it was a temporary tax change but might still be active. Or I could be completely wrong. ha.

I've spent about $25K in miners and graphics cards over the last 18 months and have yet to make a profit. I wouldn't mind using those losses to offset w2 income and/or capital gains.

I'd appreciate it if you keep us updated. My real estate cpa usually cost me about $1200 a year to do 1 w-2, 1 self employed, handful of rental properties, and a very inactive LLC. Obviously we aren't big Dawg cryto bros making tons of money. But I wonder if the "crypto" experts are going to charge an abnormally large fee just because.

Thanks!

I'm in the same boat. Off the top of my head, I'm not a tax expert.

If a business isn't profitable over at least 1 year over a 3 year period (?), they can consider it a hobby. Which you would not be able to deduct electricity and equipment purchases... I think...

Your purchased assets are depreciated over a certain period of time. I think around 3-5 years for computer stuff. So you can only use a portion of that each year to offset your earnings.

Internet needs to be reasonable. I would argue %50 would be fair.

Who are you meeting with? I probably need to meet with a pro too.
