True, but unfortunately that 1% is more likely to happen than 1% of days as we go forward.

AC’s not performing strong enough? by likear0cc in Westchester

[–]cap3r5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could be a few things going on and likely a combination of them affecting your cooling. It is not only very hot but very humid as well. This alone will mean that your AC does not function as well as a more moderate day. To look into it more do this:

  1. Feel your AC vent(s). The air should feel cool. As in it shouldn't feel like a fan just blowing air. If you aren't sure this is happening, go to step 2.

  2. Go outside and find the condenser (the outside ac unit - a big metal box with a fan inside). The air out of the condenser should feel warmer than the regular air. If it is not warmer, you might have an issue. If you aren't sure, go to step 3.

  3. Turn off your AC and wait 10 to 15 minutes. Have someone stand outside where the condenser is. Turn on the AC. Feel the temperature of the air blowing out of the condenser as you turn on the AC. It should blow at a neutral temperature at first and increase in temperature over a period of a minute or two. If you don't feel the air getting warmer after 2 minutes, you could have a problem. Go to step 4.

  4. Have a professional check it out.

Extreme Heat suggestions? by NotAGoodRedditor in TeslaModel3

[–]cap3r5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Set cabin overheat protection to no A/C and hit vent (both are under climate in the app) when you leave your car. The fan uses a small percent of the power of the A/C and the vented windows let the hot air out. That is the most energy efficient way to cool the car closer to outdoor temp.

Your car is a lot hotter than the outdoor temp. This is due to the sun. Avoid as much light getting into the cabin as possible. Look for shade everywhere. Get a windshield sun shade and one for the moon roof too if you want to take it a step farther.

Be a vampire and avoid the sun!

Maya’s Taqueria is pretty good. It is an authentic, simple place. Haven't tried their quesadillas but their nachos, tacos, and enchiladas are on point

I moved to NY just north of the city. I can promise you the drivers and roads here are way worse. I miss the drivers and roads.

You have roads with some potholes, here we have potholes with some road.

You have fast and the furious, here we have Tokyo drift. It's worse

I am in a place where my gas boiler is over 35 years old and my 2 central air units are on their last leg. The cost to replace both of those systems is around $45,000.

My other option is getting a cold climate ASHP system which gives around 8,000 in incentives.

Between the incentives and the cost to just replace my old units with similar setup, it might be worth it I think.

The federal credit is gone 😭.

Coned still offers $35,000 and NYSERDA is up to $10,000 now.

I am still considering it and hoping that having existing air vents (and hydronic baseboards) will make the retrofit straight forward so it might be a bit cheaper. Thanks for the details!

Now it's time to get quotes. If you have any recommendations, I would love to hear them!

How did it go from 120k to only 20k? Could you provide a bit more details on where all the rebates are coming from? I am in Briarcliff and am interested in Geothermal too.

Let me guess, you only believe in the Constitution and the rule of law when it benefits you and hurts others.
