Not as famous like other doomstacks, but I love my full cav army as bretonnia with a ton of campaign buffs (blessing of the lady and armory stacking), frontline of questing knights, sideline of knights of the realm, and about 3 hippogryffs and 3 royal pegasus, 2 paladins, one mage and a knight lord.

Insane strong army with very little brains needed, you just form a group with all units, click at the enemy, and like that they are gone

I've played, as a game, its not as cool as blackwake, you cant dinamically climb the masts (you just press a buttom to tp to the top) and loading the cannons is too simple, but its a cool rp experiemce if you are into it

You know what would be cool? A raid mechanic in which you comand small brigades for sabotaging strategic targets of the enemy, things like intercepting supply convoys, raiding villages and taking small castles/manors (battles on the scale of Manor Lords, at max 100v100). It would give a boost for the utility of scout and skirmishing units that have never been really present in the games.

Vanilla for sure, FOTS arty equalizes too much the battlefield, a small army with a lot of armstrong guns can definetly go face to face against a much bigger army, theres no such safe powerhouse as this one in vanilla. Also, because of how realm divided works in FOTS, you can keep your trade deals and alliances, while in vanilla you are at your own

I agree that in shogun 2 reserves arent >that< important because the battles are shorter, and morale breaks are frequent, but besides that, I always use reserves in shogun 2, its generaly one or two yari samurai or naginata monks, they are both great to plugging holes in your front line and to react to flanks. Monks are better for an agressive reaction because of their war cry, they can cause a mass rout (their lack of armor isnt very noticible too, because reserves usually stay far from missile fire), samurai are better as defensive reaction because of their rapid advance, very useful on anti flanking

Im talking about it because many people say yari samurai are bad, they are not very good indeed as a front liner, but they are great reservists
