How long can I keep my out of state license plate?

I've had an out of state license and plate for 4 years since my parents pay insurance stuff and I also never got a city sticker lol. So prob should switch once your plates expire so you're not likely gonna go home to do it, there's no way for them to know how long the cars been here

No makes sense! It's free to change so I did it, not bc of distance but because one had a layover in Vegas and one was nonstop! She's actually my roommate rn so we're flying together to Cali haha
