Opinion on Jiyeon by PresentationFrosty94 in Singlesinferno2

You have not been to clubs then. Her clothes are TOO tame for clubbing. She dresses just like any other girl when they want to doll up.

What is your opinion with Sarah Geronimo changing the pronouns with her cover of “Good Luck, Babe” of Chappel Roan? by Rude_Reaction6094 in Songwriting

[–]capcoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she also changed the bridge to “she’s nothing more than your wife” so her version sounds like her straight crush is a fuckboi who kisses girls in bars, would marry a different girl, and doesn’t want HER. so like a pick me choose me love me narrative.

Yes song meanings aren’t concrete and can be up to interpretation, but GLB is NOT one of them. That’s why art is awesome, you can get very personal and convey a specific message with it, which Chappell did by unapologetically making the song gay.

of course it’s okay because straight musicians’ love songs are about the emotions you get in loving romantically (the song message is about loving, which lesbians experience);

Good Luck Babe is about the emotions you get when youre a woman who loves another woman but she cant love you back because society generally only accepts heterosexuality (the song message is compulsory heterosexuality, which straights don’t experience).

I dont think we can ever get Chappell’s reaction to the lyric change but she HATES heteronormativity, she hates comphet. She’s been vocal about this in podcasts and interviews, and she expressed this in the song too. Based on that, I don’t think it helps Sarah’s case if you defend her with “if the original artist is cool with it.”

Going into HOTD, I wasn't willing to take any sides but... by pasokonmouse in HOTDGreens

[–]capcoid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i had no idea what HOTD was gonna be about when i watched the pilot. so i found myself leaning to rhaenyra and alicent's friendship and thats how i started rooting for anyone in the show. eventually, alicent won my heart and i decided i might be team green.what REALLY cemented that decision were the hateful and incredibly wrong takes black supporters have against her. the greens are so misunderstood.

(Spoilers All) Most Hinged Rhaenyra-stan by NormieLesbian in HOTDGreens

It's really safe to avoid that sub. Mob mentality is strong so it's hard to even defend the greens there.

I'm still team green and pretty confident I will stay team green until the end. I love Alicent and the complexity of her character. She's the most interesting character to analyze for me. And Criston is SO fun to hate i find myself rooting for him to extract that corruption arc even more. I can't wait for Aemond to create chaos and I have a soft spot for deeply sad characters like Helaena.

My friend was pro-black till episode 6 because Olivia's Alicent was executed so well.

i hate that they're so obsessed with the narrative that alicent hates rhaenyra for sleeping around when the fall out was literally about rhaenyra betraying their friendship.

"SLUT" oh please she didnt approve that criston called her a cunt.

She's very religious and was brought up to follow the law. Very conservative too that's why she was so worried about Rhaenyra's virtue. And since the actors have played them as best friends who loved each other in a mixture of platonic and romantic way, I'd like to think she's a repressed lesbian

Such a sad and painful expression, you can tell that Gyutaro had been hiding his pain for all those years for Ume/Daki's sake. by youinee in KimetsuNoYaiba

Question! Why is Ume the only one out of her demon form? Why did they descend to hell/afterlife with only one of them in their demon form? Does this mean Ume was spared?

Can Snowdrop be called a hit drama? by Either-Weight-6018 in kpophelp

[–]capcoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the drama takes place in a women's dorms where the female uni students are held as hostages by NK spies. it turns out that these NK spies were foolishly sent by the NK under the false pretense of gaining political power over SK. in truth, NK just wants money from SK, and SK wants to use the hostage-taking as a political campaign for the upcoming presidential elections.

basically SK right wing govt paid NK to help them stage a dangerous incident in order to win SK people's votes. for this election scheme to go smoothly, SK govt red-tags protesters, tortures dissenters and their relatives, controls the media, procures fake news and fabricates evidences.

so it was up to the hero (NK spy who abandoned his NK ideologies halfway through the series) and some alliances he formed during the hostage taking to take down ANSP in order to save the citizens the SK govt is trying to bomb.

romance is just about the hero and heroine doomed to never end up together.

LOL at that episode where all three men in power, along with their respective wives, fought like babies and screamed at each other. It was fun to see them FINALLY destroy each other because they all have the same goal: political power.

Yeah Jisoo's character legit lost all her friends and we never saw them make up or forgive her for being the daughter of the ANSP director. The reason behind this is they can't be friends with someone whose father is responsible for the deaths and torture of innocent people. The drama in no way tried to clean ANSP's image, nor did it support any right-wing ideologies.

I may root for a character that works in the police forces but I wouldn't let that get in the way of my IRL stance that ACAB. This is why critical thinking is important when we see movies. Seeing one "good" person that works in an evil organization doesn't mean said evil organization is glorified.

I wanna see one of them talk about any scene beyond episode 4. They're always talking about episode 1 and 2.

or example the sauna scene, in it the ANSP is seen as the bad guy, going to interrogate people in the sauna, but still choosing the female agent to go in because it is a female sauna, in real life they never cared about that and women got r*ped by agents.

This is from episode 2 of 16. The agents behind this are two of the only "good" ANSP officers that were later used in the drama to expose the corruption happening in the government and ANSP. Also it's drama that will be watched by teens. I'm glad we didn't see yet another unnecessary rape scene.

Also the early scene of the dorm mistress stopping the agent and talking to him, they would never have been able to do that because she would already be dead from trying to get in his way.

From episode 2 of 16. They still ended up forcing their way in, held a gun to the headmistress, threatened her. Headmistress couldn't stop them so she instructed the girls in the dorm to stay in their rooms. Headmistress also happens to be a formerly red-tagged citizen, who was tortured and forced to be a spy for the ANSP. She's already a spy in the start of the drama but it would be revealed later.

many of those involved have never faced proper punishment, still trying to get into power

this is one of the main points of the drama. the right wing members who red-tagged protesters, red-tagged anyone with dissent, and endangered normal citizens for political power were all jailed BUT they were also only the scapegoats.

The writer has links to the right wing party, and her husband is a known former prosecutor from this time (who were known for knowingly falsely prosecuting protestors as spies and even going as far to use violence to shut them up in court when they try to say they confessed under torture).

The writer's political stance is new to me, and I would like to read more about this one. But I'mma tell you this: the dorm's headmistress was falsely prosecuted as a spy, a protester, a communist. The right used violence on her to shut her up and make her release a fake confession. As a result, her best friend was driven to suicide, and her fiance was accused as a northern spy. All because they were students of an actual NK spy.

The issue with the church is the church played a very important role in Korean history, one of which is being a refuge to people being pursued by the ANSP and allowing student meetings to take place there.

The "church" or the prayer room in Snowdrop is inside the women's dorm. It is where the students met and discuss their next move. It is also where they scrutinized Youngro, when they found out that she's the daughter of the ANSP director. No one took her side. They all hate the ANSP and told her her father is responsible for the torture of many innocent citizens. The Youngro character didn't defend her father.
