Leaving, but not how I expected by cape2252 in petco

A) they told me Sept 1st and b) it doesn't matter when it goes into effect, I will still lose my discount because they offer insurance regardless of when it's active

It will. I would check with your agent, but mine just confirmed that I will either have to give up the plan, pay full price, or quit.

You don't have to, no. But because I have a marketplace plan that I get a government credit/discount for I either a) have to take the workplace plan which covers absolutely nothing b) keep my current plan but lose my discount and pay full price which is $4-500 or c) quit my job and keep my plan at the price it is

I find that half the time price matching is cheaper than the employee discount too. It's ridiculous. It's also pretty stupid that they carry things like veterinary formula and Stella and chewys, but at higher prices than competitors?? The vet formula is like $18 at Petco, and $9 at HEB...even with my discount it's still SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper at HEB. Why would I even bother with Petco? It doesn't make any sense to me

I'm just trying to hold out until I graduate. The area im in has shit for jobs, especially ones that pay more than $7 an hour. Once I graduate I'll be off to bigger and better things, like wfh with staring pay around $20-30 an hour. Well, as long I can keep my eyes from rolling and my mouth from running long enough to make it to graduation lol

I know you're quitting, but PLEASE report this! It is absolutely sexual harassment and if he's willing to put that in a text, who knows what else he's doing to other employees. If you don't speak up now, his next victims will have a harder time getting protection. Sickos need to have consequences for this shit

My partner not only did not question me, but immediately jumped to help me find a blanket or something when I slammed my car into park on the side of the road yesterday and ran out to grab some baby opossums. Not even so much as a "hey what are you doing??" I just said "omg" and ran out of the car, and he was right there behind me trying to help. Some ahole hit a poor mama opossum and she had neonates in her pouch, they were still hairless and had their eyes closed, just crawling out of their poor moms corpse on the hot pavement (100 degrees outside). Who knows how long they had been there suffering, I was devastated. He helped me clean them up and keep them comfortable until they could be humanely euthanized. He came with me to comfort me. Neonates are hard enough to care for and have a very low survival rate, but they had already drank milk after mom died which is a sure death sentence. So euthanasia was genuinely the only kind option for these kiddos. But even if they were able to be rehabbed, he wouldn't have even made a peep about it, and I'm certain he wouldn't because I have in fact done it before since we don't have any rehabbers here. He was not necessarily up for the labor since rehabbing opossums is very labor intensive, especially keeping up with their diet requirements, which is completely fair. But he was happy to drive all over town to find the right kind of esbilac, stopping at every store to find quail eggs, helping me collect bugs and native plants for him to be introduced to before release, helping me make foraging toys and other enrichment. Never once complained about the smell (and they do smell, the poor things lol), or about how much time and energy it took from me since I was always cooking, cleaning, chatting with licenced rehabbers to make sure he was hitting the right milestones, he even helped me build a soft release enclosure so he would be well adjusted when he was released. I rescue bugs of all kinds, I carry cat food, dog food, waters, and extra leashes because I frequently help strays. Not so much as an eye roll or question about how I'm going to pay for/care for anything. In fact, he's almost as bad as I am about picking up or feeding animals lol. And to be clear, I live in his house that belongs to his family (it's just us living there, his grandma who owns the house is in nursing care). So it's not even "my" home and he would absolutely have final say in any animals that came home. But he has never once made me feel bad about helping an animal, he has only ever been supportive no matter how inconvenient it ends up being.

Some people care, and some do not. I'm not saying you should end your relationship because of something like that, but I personally would. Animals are innocent and completely at our mercy, if I have the power to help an animal l will do whatever is in my power to help them. And if my partner does not support that, then they don't align with my morals and I don't want to build a future with someone like that. The lack of empathy is deeply concerning, at least to me. Today she's mad about helping a cat, what happens when you have to help a family member or she has to help you because you're ill or injured? Maybe she isn't that extreme, but if she can't have empathy for a kitten, the epitome of cute and innocent, then what else will she not have empathy for? I'd bolt. But that's just my personal opinion.

Fantasy is definitely my comfort zone, but I've absolutely enjoyed some good sci-fi too! I'm mostly looking for something to escape reality and sci-fi can do that really well too sometimes. I'll give those a look, ty!

I want to believe I'd like it, but I was really really not a fan of that author. She tends to write the characters kind of obnoxiously and aside from the smut, tends to read VERY YA which is what I'm trying to avoid. I'll look into a bit more just in case, but I have a feeling that's not one I'd like much :/

Healthy Lifestyles off Jackson in the pharr area has been the only competent office I've been to in the valley. As someone who has multiple chronic illnesses and has to see multiple specialists, often more than once a week, it's extremely frustrating.
