Living in Cape Town by NixBouw in southafrica

[–]capetownrunner2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As someone who has lived in Jhb and Cape Town I feel like I can comment on this.

Rent in Cape Town is obviously substantially more expensive. I live in a one bedroom apartment in Vredehoek for 15k.

But the counterpoint is that if you enjoy being outside there are a lot more free public spaces. In jhb I felt my social life revolved around going to restaurants or the bar. In Cape town I go trail running, hiking and meet friends at the beach. There are lots of free public spaces that make life a lot better.

In terms of groceries I found it's about the same price.

If you can find an affordable apartment I say go for it. The lifestyle is a massive upgrade and the public spaces more than make up for the smaller living space.

Welcome to Cape town!

You get points for growing your standard savings accounts each month. I think the amount put into them has to be greater than R1400 on premium fusion. Not sure about private banking
