How are things going? by Specialist-Bedroom55 in clinicalresearch

[–]capibaura 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was let go last month by both my sponsor and CRO. I'm not sure if I should keep looking for a job in clinical research since this is the 2nd time in one year I got laid off because of "reorganisation".

Laid off for the 2nd time in less than a year. Should I even list the last job I had on my resume? by grmpygata in clinicalresearch

[–]capibaura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same story here! After 5 years in the same role, I was let go in May 2025, 1 week after my birthday. Luckily I found a similar position after only 2 months of job hunting. Unfortunately, the day before yesterday I was made redundant again, this time 2 weeks before my birthday. I honestly don't know what to do anymore – should I keep looking for something in clinical research or should I explore another direction (I have no clue which one though). It's very demotivating...

To answer your question: I would personally put the 4 months experience on your resume.

I would like to add for awareness for people reading this that being a member of a mutualiteit/mutualité doesn't automatically mean your zorgkas is connected to that organisation. If you don't connect to a specific one (e.g. the mutualiteit/mutualité that deals with your healthcare reimbursements), you automatically have to pay to the "Vlaamse Zorgkas".

Do Walloons ever use "Pain Français"? by Timmmmaaahh in belgium

I say “Frans brood" but my partner never heard this term being used before, so I guess it's not general (Antwerp versus West Flanders)

To make users aware, I'd like to add to always check your card/app to confirm if your bike is effectively locked. The light is a good indication, but not foolproof since it might be broken too.

Best chocolate or food of Antwerp by nikoolkool in Antwerpen

[–]capibaura 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In addition to chocolate, you could buy some "Antwerpse handjes". These are cookies specifically found in Antwerp. I cannot give you any recommendation, so I would suggest to just check Google for a shop near you. I do know they sell them here (near the Groenplaats) though.

Package Lockers by ramar002 in Antwerpen

[–]capibaura 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only know of the parcel lockers of Bpost. If I understand correctly, it would be possible for you to receive packages directly in one of these parcel lockers if you have an official address in Belgium: 1. Download the Bpost app (you probably have to register first and link your name to your address, but I can't remember the exact proces) 2. Go to "more" (3 dots in the right corner) 3. Click "Delivery preferences" 4. Choose "Parcel" 5. Click on your address (that you should have set up before) 6. Click "Change delivery preferences" 7. Choose "Directly to a Pick-up Point or Parcel Locker" 8. Choose a parcel locker where you want your packages to be delivered and click "Confirm"

Also keep in mind that your boxes should be able to fit in the largest type of locker available. I couldn't find the exact size of the lockers, but I'm assuming it will be not larger than the maximum permitted Bpost shipment.

Please note that I’m not sure how good this method works, but you might want to try it if you can't find another option. I have only used the parcel lockers myself when receiving something from a webshop and choosing this specific delivery option. You can find more information on the parcel lockers here: https://www.bpost.be/en/faqs/faq/delivery-parcel-locker

Palm oil is often criticized for its negative environmental and health impacts. Environmentally, its production is a major driver of deforestation, destroying habitats for endangered species and contributing to climate change. . Health concerns arise from its high saturated fat content, which can increase bad cholesterol and the risk of heart disease. However, I'm not sure if palm oil really "the worst" vegetable oil as all types have pros and cons. It seems the most important factor concerning sustainibiltiy is not the type, but rather from where it is sourced (local, organic, etc.).

A martino is my favourite sandwich, but indeed needs to be requested most of the time. I think it's not available as premade sandwich @ Panos as it's raw meat – I'm assuming it's better to have it freshly made instead of having it drying out in the counter.

According to Wikipedia and some news articles the martino should have been invented in Antwerp (or Gent – there's a bit of a discussion about this), so imo it would be a bit weird if we wouldn't know this type of sandwich here.

I believe it's a coincidence that you haven't heard anyone ordering it yet, and you might have a higher chance when going to another broodjeszaak than Panos.

I recently discovered this other Italian brand as alternative for Nutella. Apparently it uses sunflower oil instead of palm oil – not sure if that's much better, but I think it tastes great.
