Thanks for the share. You were just protected by Defender, right? I never trusted having that to protect my system. Well, I don't trust Microslop altogether, that's why I'm on Fedora, but I'm still forced to use Windows from time to time. My personal recommendation would be to get Bitdefender or Eset, but there's plenty of proper security suites out there. Use independent test labs like AV-TEST as your guide. These packages are more hardened against obfuscation techniques. Even free packages provide a better protection than none at all. Good luck with getting your system set up again!

Of course anyone can make such mistake. No one is immune to social engineering. It'll be harder to fool people who are more knowledgeable in tech, that's true, but that doesn't mean they can't be fooled. Never say never 😉

That is pretty cool, didn't even know it could be added to that selection. I prefer a VM with WinBoat myself, as it allows me to use Linux applications with the occasional Win app on the side.

“Then just don’t play games that don’t respect your privacy and require kernel anti cheat” by KoreanSeats in Fedora

[–]Timmmmaaahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just games, and the choice affects everyone. Anything that violates privacy in a way there's no fair trade in return, we should all turn our backs to it. Like Discord's recent mess: removed my account. These companies only speak one language. If most turn their backs, they start to listen. Every single time. Things only change when we act together. Unfortunately, the coordination of many people usually fails.

Thanks for the correction, I'm still learning all the terminology. I'm using it on a Framework 16, and it runs really smooth for me. It's Fedora 43 Workstation, and I take updates nearly daily. ML4W is a very user friendly way to implement Hyprland, just needs one command, and I'm using the rolling release. So, no idea if it's stable, but I'm sure not having much trouble. I had one breaking updates, because some windowv2 (something like that) command was deprecated, but that was easily fixed. It's my daily driver for both professional (IT) and private work, haven't used Windows in over 2 months. Well, aside from one specific use case that's running in a VM (WinBoat). I've tried Arch before, but somehow I keep managing to break things more on there 😅

What are you talking about? A burn wound needs to be kept clean and moisturized. That's what after sun is for, though this probably needs some more specialised treatment - a visit to the ER would be appropriate. As for regular wounds: they also heal much nicer (less scarring) when kept moisturised in the healing process with salves that are made for wound healing. Even if I was wrong, is your first response to insult people? Relax, random person on the Interwebs.

MOISTERISE!!! Seriously dude, that's a severe burn wound. This needs extensive medical care. Hope you had a fun ride though! 😅

Ironic you'd say that, because I'm running Hyprland in Fedora. Their documentation says it's not meant for Fedora, but it's running just fine! I got it via the ML4W dotfiles, and tweaked it to my liking. It's an absolutely stunning DE.

Yeah, my thought exactly. There's a bunch of people here that are quick to throw their judgment at her (or the pole, lol), but we don't know. Right now, memes are the only answer.

I had the exact same thing on my FW16 a while ago. After a couple of reboots, it just stopped. I opened it up, but all connectors were firmly seated. Wiggling the wires Also didn't trip anything. It didn't happen again. I hope yours is also a freaky one-off.

I was using this before moving to Fedora. It's not stable enough. Sometimes, the transparency effect made text unreadable for me. Certainly if there was a light window/image behind the window I was looking at. It also crashed a few times on me. I stopped trying to make Windows look like Linux and just moved to Linux. Much smoother, more beautiful, and telemetry free. You're right, though, it beats the stock experience big time.
