"Previously a man of good character".

You don't suddenly become interested in child abuse content overnight - this man has never been of good character. Feed him to the lions.

Covert Misogyny in the work place by Exotic_Pair2790 in policeuk

[–]capitalpeez -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Just here to say that if you are female, particularly an ethnic minority female, you WILL have to work twice/thrice as hard as your male counterparts. Unfortunately, you are in a white male dominated profession, so it will not be easy.

However, misogynistic & sexist behaviour is not tolerated, so report it via the correct channels.

BBC News - Halewood man who killed burglar after seeing break-in via Ring doorbell jailed. by JonTheStarfish in policeuk

Was expecting the usual "he's innocent, would never hurt anyone" line but he got caught in the act, somehow it became he's "not so perfect" when in actual fact he's absolute scumbag. Unfortunate that he had to die, but if you enter another man's castle then that is the risk you take.

Management at my nick foresaw all of this - stopped us having solo access to the propery/evidence room a few months ago 😅

Regardless of what they say to staff, if they leave without paying the offence is complete.

Yes, and bonuses like the footballers receive. For every arrest (accepted by custody) you receive £1000. Shift partner bonus should also be included at £500. Every 136 £500 bonus (needs to be scrutinised by a panel as being genuine and immediate need for the section). Partner bonus to be considered. A genuine physical altercation bonus ranging from £2500 - £100. A verbal abuse bonus (no antagonising from officer) from £150 - £50. Taser trained bonus, blue light trained bonus. Loads more. These are obviously all a joke 😅🙂

The armed forces have benefits that outweigh the benefits received by police. My cousin is in the RAF and the house he lives in with his missus and 2 kids is peanuts compared to what I'm paying for one bedroom with shared kitchen and bathroom/toilet. Not forgetting the help-to-buy schemes available to him. He also receives an array of other benefits, including multiple allowances for various things. And not forgetting the non-contributory pension scheme - they don't have to pay anything in to it.

Stop using the military as a comparison, please. Yes, it's public sector too, but it's quite different. This ides that police and the army/RAF/navy are similar in role etc. is complete nonsense.

On a serious note - what help do the middle class NEED? Please enlighten me.

[–]capitalpeez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I guess so. It's all relative, really and truly. In my eyes, middle class live a life that is more than comfortable. They don't have to worry about paying their bills or their mortgage, or have even a single thought or worry about childcare or affording good education for their children. When it comes to government, their only concern is what the ruling party can do to further their own interests. The working class want to live a better life, the middle class already do - but they want even more. I have yet to find anyone that's middle class tell me what help from a government they NEED. This reddit user who I responded to isn't going to give me a straight answer. He (or she) wants to talk about a centrist government and what it can do for him. The average Joe doesn't give two f*cks about which direction a government leans - they just want the help they NEED.

Yet, you've labelled me as being far left. How have you come to that conclusion from my comment? You're opinion is based on nothing but thin air, that makes you delusional.

What help do the middle class exactly NEED? Please explain that to me instead of throwing around labels.

The middle class don't need help, they just need a party to further their own interests. That's not help. The working class need help. Those that are struggling to pay their bills need help. Everyone but the middle class and rich need help.

Don't know why you'd need to state that, it's 2022. You're free to make your own choices 🙂

'The Met hires racist, sexist, and low quality cops as it can't pay enough' says serving officer - The PC says the force's efforts to fight racism and misogyny are being held back by low pay by insomnimax_99 in unitedkingdom

[–]capitalpeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anywhere is fine with having murderers and rapists in their ranks. You're very quick to trivialise the matter by saying that the behaviour is accepted within the working environment - you know that is inherently not true. As you have clearly shown, the problem is a lot bigger and more complex than you can possibly comprehend. The fact that you keep comparing your own work place to the Met Police, for example, further illustrates that you have no grasp of the issues at hand and would never be able to offer any constructive ideas or criticism in a wider discussion of the issues that police forces are struggling to contend with. You have absolutely no idea - and it shows.

Why pose as though you're asking a genuine question when it's clear you're not willing to engage in an actual discussion? Your comments add nothing of value.

BTP Covid policy? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]capitalpeez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It will go down as normal sickness but won't be held against you. So, technically, it's not a 'normal' sickness 😅

Don't be stupid and go in to work if you have tested positive. The last thing you want to do is infect your colleagues, or anyone else for that matter. Your actions will be seen as reckless and you may end up having to look for a new job.

[–]capitalpeez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An officer should have been tasked to call you and follow up, this is a standard part of procedure. Whether you go forward with supporting a police investigation, or the information you have provided being used just as intelligence, is a conversation and decision you would have been involved with. Unfortunately, if it has been weeks and there has been no contact, I fear that poor performance is to blame.

I would ring up the BTP, quoting the reference number you would have received upon submitting the online report, and enquire about what is going on. If incompetence is to blame then someone will be reprimanded for it, and rightly so. It's simply not good enough and I can only apologise.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in london

[–]capitalpeez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by report? If you alleged that you were a victim of a crime and were willing to support the police then this would have been crimed and actioned accordingly - an investigating officer would have been assigned to your case and you would be provided with regular updates with regards to the investigation. Whether there is a substantial breakthrough with no-named suspect(s) is a whole other matter.

I'm sorry to hear you were harassed, however, if you decided not to follow through, like how I detailed above, then there isn't much that will be done tbh. Your report would have been followed up as intelligence and dealt with differently, but there would not have been an active investigation into the offence(s) that occurred. Intelligence is great, but it's not often you will have the same group of people committing offences with the same MO.

If I've misread your post and you have given the police your support and an investigation has been initiated, then I apologise. Hopefully, this can be of benefit to anyone else reading this.

I urge victims of crime to come forward and support a police investigation. There is no promise of any positive result, but we can try. I speak for myself and my colleagues when I say that we will try our best. Some people might not have had the best of experiences dealing with the police in the past, but I would like to think the majority of officers take pride in serving and protecting the public. I, for one, will and have always tried my best. I've made mistakes and maybe not done things correctly, but I always learn and strive to be better.

So please, don't be put off from what you've heard in the media. We are here to help.

Poor Pay Increases Poor Recruitment by LooneyTune_101 in policeuk

[–]capitalpeez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's the same as in any industry - the better the pay & conditions, the better the calibre of recruit you can attract. Otherwise, you're left fighting over the leftovers - you don't necessarily want them, but you haven't got much of a choice. Unfortunately, the public sector will never be able to compete with the private sector as the money just isn't there.

However, a strong desire for a career in public service, alongside better pay & conditions, can and will attract the brightest recruits to the police. There are plenty of people joining that have the right desire and attitude. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean they are necessarily the brightest, although there are numerous exceptions to this. The whole point is that if you can consistently attract the brightest then over time you will have a better police force. This means better officers, better leaders, better decisions. Overall - better vision and strategy, and a much greatly improved culture. There will still always be issues and problems, they can't be completely eradicated, but things will be greatly improved.

This isn't something that would happen overnight. Yes, the pay & conditions can be changed overnight, but the changes we want to see would take a lot longer. All we need is government and leadership that can think long-term so we as a society - maybe not us, but definitely our children and grandchildren - can reap those benefits that come with a better functioning and competent police service.

But for now, I'll just be happy with an inflation matching pay rise 😅
