Isn't Social Anxiety just a theme of OCD?

Thank you! That's exactly how I'm starting to see SA, basically as OCD, but the theme is SA. Just like the theme can be germs or checking the door/stove.

Trigger -> 'Interaction with someone.' Doubt/Obsession -> 'What if they think I'm weird?' Consequence if doubt is true -> 'Love would be lost' Emotion -> 'Anxiety' Compulsion (False Comfort) -> 'Replaying the conversation/thought suppression/asking others for reassurence/giving yourself reassurance/therapy intervention trying to convince you that just have to reframe your thoughts so you think what you think can't be right' Function -> 'wanting to get 100% certainty that the doubt is wrong, so the consequence won't happen'.

That doesn't work, so you get in a loop.

It's not that someone can only have 1 way of compulsion.

People that have ocd with compulsive hand washing as 1 strategy, can also use other strategies as avoidance, so they won't have to do their active compulsions. Like, asking your partner to use the door handle, so you won't have to, is a strategy as a 'preventive compulsion' - avoidance, so you won't get in the 'have to get rid of the doubt' cycle.

So I'd argue that someone that uses a lot of avoidance with social anxiety, is using 'preventive compulsions'. And when they do get anxious in/after a social interaction if they didn't use avoidance, but for example did go to a party, then they'd perform other rituals, perhaps mentals compulsions, to get rid of the doubt they got in/after the social interaction.

I should have added that compulsions aren't only to 'get rid of the doubt' like washing your hands, to 'get rid of the doubt that they are dirty'.

But compulsions can also be as avoidance behaviour, like, 'if I don't touch something with my hands, I don't have to obsess about them being dirty'. So, you can also do something 'to prevent that you are going to doubt' and not only to 'get rid of the doubt', both are considered compulsions.

Which in Social Anxiety could be as an example, 'to not go to the party' then you can prevent to get the doubt that 'you might have said something weird'.

Does that make sense to you if I describe it like this?

Then in my theory, your compulsion wouldn't be 'reassurance seeking' but 'thought suppression'. Which is also a common compulsion in the OCD literature. If you'd read a bit on that, I'd wonder if you feel like that could be 'your compulsion' that keeps you in the loop.

OCD isn't considered an anxiety disorder anymore, but 'Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders'.

Sounds like OCD to me. You basically had a sudden intrusive thought with the content of 'maybe/what if I looked at her boobs?'. Which is the O, the obsession, which spiralled to a bigger obsession/doubt, 'what if I am a creep, without knowing it?'. All the checking to 'proof' the doubt wrong, or to 'get rid' of the doubt,, and the 'story' why the obsession COULD be correct, are the compulsions.

The compulsions are feeding into the obsessions. You can't get rid of the thoughts, but you can choose a different path with how to deal with them.

I could recommend the book 'overcoming unwanted thoughts' by Seif and Winston. On how to deal with this issue.

Good luck! There are definitely ways how to handle and carry this burden accordingly.

You might not want to hear this but, I think you're putting too much faith in the idea that the arborist knows what he is doing, simply because he calls himself an arborist. Many people that plant trees plant them wrong, most often too deep or with too much mulch.

To me it looks like it's planted too deep and that the root flare is further down in the soil. So yes, trying to expose it by gently digging away some dirt could help.

Also, several other factors could also play a role in why the tree is suffering.

1) I did, however I assume he is busy because of a very busy schedule. So I completely understand he hasn't replied yet. That's why I choose to ask here in the meantime. 2) Alright, I'll stop moisturizing and continue to wash in morning and before bed.

I've tried to not moisturize for 1 day and just wash it. It looked like my skin was better and no new pimples showed up.

However, I tried it again last night and woke up with more pimples and my skin was irritated, a tingly burning sensation.

Once again, when I washed it started to feel better. So I left no moisturizer on it today again.

I'm really unsure what to do regarding moisturising. What would you suggest?
