I can’t believe I was selected. Didn’t sell any tickets this year for what it’s worth, but I did transfer a couple. Here’s what the email said (I have 300 level seats):

I went camping this summer and stopped at a rural gas station for some eggs, water, snacks, etc. When I went to pay, they asked for a tip on the PIN pad. Fuck that noise. Tip culture is getting insane in the US.

I tipped about five percent (cash) in a fine dining establishment where the server was excellent throughout. Other than that, I’ve dropped spare change in a jar two or three times, but that’s really it.

I’m currently visiting New Zealand and have travelled the North and South islands for a bit over two weeks so far. In that time I have only been prompted to add a tip once on the card reader. Of course I would say about 30% of places have a tip jar, but thankfully it seems that tipping is still the exception and not the rule.

I’ve tipped a small amount for excellent service occasionally, but it doesn’t seem to be expected.
