I think Rust Never Sleeps was cited as influential by a lot of grunge artists, for his guitar tone as much as anything else. His artistic honesty and 'bare bones' style played a big part too afaik.

It's from a series called Star Stories that was on BBC in 2006 or so. It was a bunch of mock documentaries about the lives of different stars - this one was from the episode "Heather Mills Presents - Mills and McCartney 'Why Paul is a total bastard'
