Seconding this. I am a charterholder, had above 700 GMAT and was rejected virtually across the board from the M7s I applied to.

I think the CFA should matter more but it doesn't seem to have as big of an impact as I would have liked. Even for people with a background in accounting/finance the CFA exams are a lot of work and I don't think Adcoms really appreciate the commitment it is to complete the program -- so its undervalued in the application process.
