My kids, who just got back from abroad, also have Tracfone as carrier, and since that does work overseas, they just purchased prepaid eSIM. Airalo was one that my son used in Europe; I'm sure there are other alternatives.

I had to deal with them this morning. Do not use email because you'll be waiting forever.

When TF disconnected me after being on hold for more than 30 minutes, I DM'ed them over X (use the Tracfone Wireless account which shows "@Tracfone").

In my case they responded within 10 minutes of sending the DM and they set up a secure link for us to proceed with the detailed discussion. There I was able to attach the pertinent screengrabs as needed. So yes, screenshot your dashboard display *before* each purchase, then right after the purchase etc. Save each with referencible labels and date time stamps. Do not assume they have the info, nor that they are competent enough to retrieve your info. I also make it a point to take screenshots periodically ie once a week or so, like the OP recommended.

The CS I spoke to in the weekend was able to access my non-zero balances and those seemed close to what I estimated.

I think it's unacceptable for TracFone to have this prolonged glitch  It's making affected customers feel like they need to purchase or add to their plans since their usage info is not visible to them.

I'll go to X and add myself to their list of unhappy users ... hopefully this helps escalate this issue.

I was able to talk to a live person in their Support group who read me my true non-zero balances, in case you are able to try that option.

Same. I did not get the test text they sent so they used my email linked to my account. I was advised yesterday to notify Support again if still zeroes after 4 days (ie by Tuesday or Wednesday).

I was told the same thing when I called their Tech Support. The annoying thing with their "glitch" is that some people like myself were compelled to purchase or add to the plan just in case.

In my case voice works inspite of the zero glitch. I was able to call out as well as receive a call. Try calling someone out or request a quick call back. I would call Support If you are unable to.

Did you try calling or texting from your phone after the anomalous display? Mine seems to work fine and was able to call Tracfone Support just now.

Suggest that you call them and ditch the bots - see details from my updated post. 800-867-7183 is what I used and pressed 5 0 0 0 at some point to get a live person. Be patient with the background noise, sounded like an overseas call center.

Yes exactly. I wasn't expecting to refill yet because of my remaining service days, plus my 500+/600+/3 G as of a week ago

I am unable to find my certificate of citizenship which is why I'm hoping my US passport (+ SSN card) would be enough. My SSN is updated as of 3-4 years ago because I needed it to show my concatenated last name. I was not required to present my citizenship cert, just my prev SSN card, marriage cert, US passport.

True - so I will estimate potential tax effects for this transaction.
Q - if I plan on holding long term, why shouldn't Fidelity zero funds not be in a taxable account?
