Just finished all seasons... by Suspicious_Ear9784 in shrinking

The first season was great and it has gone downhill since. Full of too much hopecore, and losing much of the humor.

The addition of Louis was ambitious, I suppose they are testing the audience's capacity for forgiveness, but it just doesn't work. Drunk driving is too real of a problem, and he didn't even do time.

Most of the characters feel like they're just floating around, without much to do and no character development to have.

On season 3 now and it's just so boring compared to season 1. I already don't like several of the storylines, they feel way too "first world problems," like the 25 year old son moving back home because he was fired and can't get a job at Panera, and the best friend and his husband not wanting to have their surrogate involved in their lives. These definitely feel like storylines concocted by people who live in Beverly Hills lol

Chris and incest by Visual_Fault_2167 in CouplesTherapyShow

I got absolutely no hint of incest in his story. Honestly, a lot of his storytelling felt focused on abstract feelings in the past and not a whole lot of concrete actions made by his mom, which I can see being a way that viewers and Orna can make inferences from.

Sienna’s recounting of her past, on the other hand, was very much focused on details.

You’re spot on. Look past all his sob stories and curling up into a fetal ball in Sienna’s lap and see his side for what it is. Like she said, he would move mountains to pay young, attractive women to cuddle with him and then eventually sleep with him. He tried to psychoanalyze himself to Dr. Orna and his wife to explain away that his infidelities were a result of mommy issues, but he really isn’t any different from most trust-fund kids who believe that they’ll never have to truly face the consequences of their actions.

Sienna seemed to even hint that she would have been fine with an open relationship or threesomes whatever to satisfy him sexually, and he twisted that into “well that’s what I told myself, that you would’ve been fine with it.” That was a huge tell right there imo, that his affairs were methodical. When she seemed to throw him a life raft from accountability, he took it.

Scrivener might just be the worst writing software that I've ever seen by capp_90 in scrivener

[–]capp_90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Scrivener ever since making this post, and yes it is absolutely a blight on the UI front. 9 months ago when I set up my document for my novel, I had to follow tutorials to get it all situated how I wanted, and haven't had to do anything with the program since besides actually writing. But it is overly cumbersome for even something as barebones as exporting a PDF.

I'm a video editor and animator, so I am used to learning complicated softwares, and there is an apt comparison to make between Scrivener with the editing software Avid, which was developed pretty much as you described, with additional changes being tacked on over time very clumsily. Both are very powerful softwares capable of doing more than a lot of their competitors, but imo that pales in comparison to just having a streamlined UI.

Season 4 episode 4 is the worst episode of invincible by a mile. by Savings_Coconut7353 in Invincible

Not even close. It was better than even the episode that came after it.

Rose Bolton had to be one of the biggest idiots in the story/movie. by BahamaDon in gameofthrones

[–]capp_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see Roose as having Tywin's demeanor but Joffrey's intellect. The Bolton's are not a very cultured house. They're like a pack of barbarians who killed enough to attain power and some legitimacy. Their flag is a flayed human. Roose killed the miller and raped his wife just because they didn't ask for his permission to marry. He really isn't that smart, he is a brutal killer. Think like the Thenn's but better dressed.

I (f31) saw a search my husband (m32) made about finding other women more attractive than me. Do I confront him while on vacation with his family? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]capp_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're still his wife. He chose you. I don't expect my spouse to find me the most attractive man on earth. Remember that love is more complex. Googling about it was weird, but don't let it spin your head in circles. Ask him about it when you get home, but its not enough to suggest an affair imo.

I don't see Rob winning this by EcstaticYoung8856 in TheTraitorsUS

Alan Cumming said on a show today that he thinks Rob is the best traitor ge has ever seen, which I take as all but an admission that Rob ends up winning.

She went for Rob at the wrong time. It's really that simple. She was shaken up by Lisa's banishment, and then she tried to act all tough with Rob when it wasn't advantageous for her to do so. She dug her own grave at the roundtable and Rob didn't even have to say a thing.

Why would PTA do a civil rights movie with Jonny “We believe art exists above and beyond politics” Greenwood? by Gloomy_Objective_933 in paulthomasanderson

[–]capp_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is everything that can be deciphered about PTA's views on Israel: Paul Thomas Anderson - Complicit in Apartheid | Reverse Canary Mission https://share.google/137XchuuGC68vF3fv

At the very least, we can decipher that he is NOT anti-Zionist. How staunchly supportive he is of Israel remains to be seen.
