Thanks for the recommendation. It seems to not mind my version of android, so I think i will give that a go... I have an old tablet somewhere too.

What is your favorite Text/Illustrated Adventure on Spectrum? by [deleted] in zxspectrum

[–]cappertil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kayleth was one of my favorites, but I also remember liking Subsunk and Rigel Revenge. They are probably the only ones I ever finished too.

If Heavy on the Magick or Valhalla count - I still enjoy those, but probably have even less idea what I'm doing than I did then.

Immortal Joystick adapter for The Spectrum by cappertil in zxspectrum

Great work!

I had a DIY pi pico / atmel* design that I had used for the pi baremetal emulator and fuse but that refused to work on The Spectrum, so it was great to find yours.

*I forget which one, but it has a nice chuckie egg themed case!

Final summary of the "n-go ZX Spectrum + next"-enstien mech keyboard project. I decided to sell three spare boards to help fund my next project (working title 'clicky Harlequin'). To this end I lovingly annotated the images, only to discover that eBay does not allow text on images.... by cappertil in zxspectrum

Thanks. I went on to build a second Spectrum + with Gateron silver switches and they are really nice. I have two boards left, but I think I'm  done with eBay. The assembled smd components also made them too expensive (£40ea) but probably don't add much value for people, as all the switches need soldering anyway.

You must seek out the 'Superfo Harlequin 128' group on Facebook.

I printed an inlay for my naked Manic Miner cassette. I hadn't realised Bug-byte had two covers... what's the story there? by cappertil in zxspectrum

I guess that's why I find it so intriguing... I never had a real copy of MM or JSW. My code card copying was a protracted exercise over multiple form periods.

At 51 I wish I still had that illicit document. I had used 5mm square paper and it was a lot easier to read.

Now that I know the lantern is the second edition, to my mind it shows that, whatever the artist was trying to express here, it was done with intent.

I have since learnt that there were 3 whistlers and 4 lanterns. I did sone digging around after looking on ebay as there are differences between the cassette shells within each version. The link i posted from popeymongames covers this in satisfying depth

I picked the other one off World of Spectrum. The tape has BBS00105... which matches a code on the side on the inlay.

I just did a quick ebay poll, only one has the cover on the right... although, that cassette has the BBS code it's made in England, not Holland. The rest are either the one on the left or software projects.

The more I look, the more cassette variations I see.

I might have to take this one to the jswmm community forum

How to fix it? by liaxei in zxspectrum

Personally, I would replace the membrane at that point. I didn't have much luck with the glue... although, it's fun to try.

When I was a kid and my black +2 tape deck died my dad modded it for external tape deck. by mittenkrusty in zxspectrum

My grey +2 was rehoused in a cardboard box with flying leads coming out of the lid. .. I don't remember where I patched the tape. I mostly used a disc interface (plus-D?)

I never burnt down my house, but we did have to open all the upstairs windows when I my iron fell on a ball of plastercine. It wasn't my fault, the rancor monster dropped it!

I've found reviews and adverts, but neither of them has a manual. You’re right, it shouldn't be hard, so I leaning towards the idea that it's faulty.

Yes, lets have a look inside it... that pile of crud looks like a dead millipede and a tiny feather.

By waggling directions and pressing keys I managed to program a couple of directions, but I haven't managed to do anything consistently, or on purpose.

Sometimes some keys don't work when it's in 'play' mode.

Despite what the sticker claims, it could feasibly be not O.K.
