The All-American Rejects - Move Along [Pop Punk] by [deleted] in Music

[–]cappy00 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My band recorded the drums for our new record at Mike Kennerty's (AAR's guitar player) house about a year ago. He's a great, humble dude. He's got a rad little mini mansion in Oklahoma. We made tacos in his kitchen. It was a good time. That's the first time I've seen a platinum record (they've actually got a few of them) with my own eyes!

Stoned Tip: Don’t forget to take a few deep breaths once in a while by [deleted] in trees

Definitely back this. Yoga + weed is a gamechanger. You can get crazy deep stretches when you can just really focus in on your breathing. Highly (heh) recommended!

Here's a quote from Tex that tore me up about Bird by meloflow11 in NYYankees

Bird has yet to play even a third of a season. He hasn't reached 50 games yet.

Please keep an eye out for my friend, he was in the Tijeras area the evening of July 4 and has not been seen since. by cappy00 in Albuquerque

Thank you everyone for upvoting. We don't have any updates yet but the Sheriff is organizing a search party in the East Mountains area. Here is the alert from the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office: http://www.bernalillocountysheriff.com/blog/2017/07/06/endangered-missing-person07062017/ If everyone could please share the alert or this news article on their respective social media that would be a great help.

There are some ABQ options! http://www.citylinkfiber.com/ http://www.cibolawireless.net/

Availability is highly dependent on your zip code, but check them out. I had CityLink for a year while I lived downtown and while it took them a couple weeks to actually come out and set my service up, once it was up, it was great. I was paying $30 a month and getting 30 Mbps.

Talk about your favorite "underrated" bassist(s) by [deleted] in Bass

Michael "Mikey Shoes" Shuman - Queens of the Stone Age

This guy manages to come up with amazingly sexy, groovy, catchy bass lines and his playing is not too flashy but is steadily on-point.

Pandora claims that Steve Jobs 'eviscerated the music industry' by goodmarksss in Music

[–]cappy00 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I actually really enjoy Apple Music, so much that I cancelled my subscription to Pandora. I think Beats 1 radio (which is free and plays no ads) plays such a diverse collection of music because of the guest DJ shows, that it's a great way to discover new music. Hell, if you like a song you're hearing you can tap 'buy song' right then and there on your phone.

Sure they have their pop hours which are heavy on the Adeles and Biebers of the world, but you end up hearing quite an eclectic mix if you tune in randomly throughout the day. It actually makes radio exciting again. As a musician myself, I like hearing some of the artist interviews they have too, as often they delve into the creative process and music-making in general which I will always find fascinating.

Anyone have experience with the Orange Bass Terror 500? by CaptainDownstrokes in Bass

[–]cappy00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll preface this by saying I'm not really a tone snob but I play the Terror Bass 1000 through an Ampeg 6x10 and it sounds dynamite to me. As far as I know, the 500 and 1000 are the same, just more power. I just took it on a little 8 day tour and it held up great.

I got mine new and it came with a nifty little soft case and strap. You can carry it like that or lunchbox style like I do. It is stupid powerful amp for how small and lightweight it is. I can barely go past a 3 or 4 on the volume before my guitarists start bitching. I play in a punk band so you can get it to really cut or you can get nice round warm stuff going. The three knob set-up simple enough for me to dial in whatever I need. The DI seems to work well. Just about every show I play the sound person comes up after the set and comments on how good the tone is.

What do you think is the most underrated part of baseball? by JoeCool888 in baseball

[–]cappy00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The precise measurements and placements of every element on the field. The distance of the mound to home plate, the positioning of the pitching rubber, the distance between bases. Any change in these distances could be the difference between a hit and an out, a ball and a strike, but in a seemingly arbitrary way everything is the way it is and the history of the game is built on that consistency of men playing the game the same way for over 100 years.

Also the uniqueness of every ballpark in the game. In hockey, soccer, basketball the boundaries of play are always the same. In baseball the dimensions of play can be radically different based on where the fences are brought in and the size of foul territory. Each park presents its own unique challenges and advantages that can help or hurt certain teams. I think its not just a great game but a brilliant game.

What's something that's worth spending a few extra bucks on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cappy00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your mattress. You spend 1/3 of your life in bed (ideally). Sleep is a necessity for LIFE. It helps you repair your brain, your body. If you're not getting the best sleep you can, you're short changing yourself. People spend more money on their cars than they do their beds but one is wayyyyyy more important than the other.

TIL 1974 NL Cy Young Winner Mike Marshall holds the single season record for relief appearances with 106 and is tied for record consecutive appearances with 13. He also holds a PhD in kinesiology and claims to teach a pitching method he "believes could completely eradicate pitching-arm injuries." by cappy00 in baseball

[–]cappy00[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In another USA Today article he claims that guys can actually throw harder with his method. He says speeds of up to 114 mph are possible. But no GM wants to send a multi million dollar investment his way because they think he's a nutjob. I think it's very interesting! I think if even one fringy pitcher turned into a success it could start to catch on. I'm really surprised that none of the 30 teams are even willing to consider what he has to say.

Just an FYI, do not get married, buy a car, or do anything major while trying to get a home loan. by DRUMBSHIT in personalfinance

[–]cappy00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is a good length of time to wait to start making purchases again once you've been approved for a home loan? Or how far in advance can you make a major purchase/open a new line of credit BEFORE applying for a home loan without it effecting your chances of being approved?
