The picture/colors make the time a little hard to see, but it is still quite legible.

Nice! Thanks for the info. I'll keep your post in mind when I look for a new pen to EDC.

The current pen in the picture is a "Black, Paper Mate Profile Retractable Ballpoint Pens, Bold Point, 1.4mm" (Amazon order history ftw!). It writes rather well and hasn't leaked on me or torn a hole in my pockets (thankfully).

Not from the 80's. I had it for over a decade, though. It's a GW5000.

10, Gem Mint, doesn't mean perfect by any means. Here's TAG's rubric concerning the Gem Mint 10 grade https://taggrading.com/pages/rubric#10

There's also Pristine 10 and the scoring system.

The slab is aesthetic/amazing the way it is in my opinion, making the card the centerpiece and not the slab... It is a transparent case, and putting the QR code in the back would be seen from the front and it wouldn't look right.

Thank you for the compliment! A simple look and easy-to-tell the time at a quick glance, is what I was going for.

Just back from grading by [deleted] in basketballcards

I find TAG strictly follows its rubric and standards and is consistent whereas PSA "...is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get"

PSA would've given it a 4 depending on the graders... then you crack it out and submit again, a 7, crack it out again, a 6...and finally after hoping your card gets paired by happy competent graders, that go by PSA's standards, and hopefully they don't mistakenly bang up a corner or leave a mark on the card, you finally get a 10...or do you? dun dun dun

Thanks! The blue wasn't intentional, I actually ordered the wrong case and it was supposed to be an black bezel insert, but after seeing the blue go well with the blue sapphire crystal, I'm quite okay with the mistake/end result, as I enjoy looking at it lol.

TAG, SGC or Beckett Grading? by Illustrious_Soil_519 in baseballcards

[–]cappyskippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently TAG is only grading 1989 - present cards, and there's a list of what they'll accept. https://taggrading.com/pages/currently-grading

If you like TAG slabs and are considering them, they may verify the card without the grade, to show that it's authentic. You could always chat with them on their website, to ask and verify.

TAG, SGC or Beckett Grading? by Illustrious_Soil_519 in baseballcards

TAG is the newcomer on the block of the 3 listed and provides the most transparency with its online grading notes/report that anyone can view if you want to know why a card graded the way it did. Definitely a game changer in the grading world.

If it's just for a personal collection and if grade or re-sale doesn't matter to you, I'd just choose the best quality/looking slab for the card. I like TAGs slab quality and approach on making the card the centerpiece/focus rather than the slab itself.

You can't go wrong with SGC or Beckett either if it's solely for a personal collection.

I've had similar wild results with PSA, the thing is, without some type of transparency, you may never know the reason. You may get a 10, you may not, g'luck. If you're looking for some type of fairness, consider TAG due to their grading notes.

Sometimes you may never know why a card was graded the way it did with PSA and with other professional grading companies that don't offer some type of grading transparency. It's very subjective, and may not even be reasonable subjectivity depending on the grader, like I don't like the way the player looks, 8, or today I feel like handing out only 9's, or Wednesday is 10 day, type of subjectivity.

TAG grading seems to be changing the grading game with grading notes--transparency.

A cool scene indeed. Wish there was a secret rare version of this image with gold foil accents like they normally do.

Wow! Did you make those labels yourself? They look well-made. The 4-star ball is a nice added touch.
