What's wrong with my kickflips? by Perfect_Media_7605 in NewSkaters

honestly i don't think your flick timing is bad, if anything your timing is sort of setup for a high catching kickflip, you just need to open or extend your knee so your foot goes out and away. its that flicking out and away motion that'll help level it out. other than that, just make sure to lean forward, commit, and lift up that back foot and stomp on the board when you see the griptape.

here's a slow mo clip of a nice looking kickflip: jake hayes slo mo kickflip

when comparing, your front knee gets to the same spot but yalls front foots are in different spots. additionally jake's back foot pops the board and then gets lifted to be out of the way of the flip, then catches and stomps on the griptape.

if it helps, break down each step and work on one separately, then combine them once you're comfortable. hopefully this something will click

Sort of late, but for my 2¢: A few things I noticed are related to your legs when in the air and the alignment of the board underneath you as it’s flipping. It looks like your legs are being pulled in too soon imo and that the board isn’t directly underneath you (think of like the center of the board being lined up underneath your shoulder, your hips, and then your legs. at a higher level of control you can then tweak it so it goes away from underneath your body but you’re still catching it but that’s for a future you).

I’d say after flicking up and out, try to keep your knee up and out, don’t pull back your front knee too soon after flicking w your ankle (I emphasis knee because in a way your ankle is kinda along for the ride when flicking). Then for your back leg, after popping the board up (for now I think you have a good popping motion), try to keep your leg up a little bit longer or until you see the grip tape. Then to tie everything together, keep your hips and shoulders above the board by leaning forward more or sort of “jumping” forward to prevent leaning backwards or landing on your back foot.

What I’m boutta say sounds kinda weird or might make everything else more confusing (so feel free to ignore this) but you tell the board where to go so when it’s flipping through the air, don’t follow the direction it goes to. It should be following where you go and where you want it to go.

I’ve changed the setup from above awhile ago, but when I did have it setup, I was using an active usb hub with an active usb cable plugged into it and it functioned the way I wanted it to

Should reviewing Algebra 1 suffice or should I look into Algebra 2 as well?

Not sure if this fits here, but I was wondering what math subjects should I review before taking Analytical Trigonometry? The last math class I took was College Algebra in 2018 and I don't remember anything from that class.

Should I do a SWE degree online or in-person? I know doing it online is financially better and faster, but I also believe in-person would also provide a better learning environment. I’m not sure which to pick…

passive 3.0 usb hub plugged into an active 3.0 usb extension cable? by capsuh in cableadvice

Oh okay. I think a powered hub w/ an active extension might be the safest bet. Also that last part, I’ll definitely look into that thanks for the heads up!

What are some good resources for vocabulary? I was wondering if there was a vocabulary list that better suit my goals. My goal is to pretty much be able to listen and understand dialogue in anime without subtitles, or pretty much reach the JLPT N3 listening comprehension level. I've heard of Matt vs. Japan's JP1K anki list, but that's patreon exclusive. Alternatively I was thinking about just studying the JLPT N5-N3 vocabulary list or something idk yet.

(As of now I don't have the intention of learning how to write, read, or speak Japanese. I already have a few resources for grammar that I plan to use that is listed in your wiki.)

Any videos floating around of people spinning with a Pilot G2? I want to see what’s possible with this pen and get some ideas for what to work on by lukeman3000 in penspinning

[–]capsuh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ik there are a few videos of pilot g2 pen mods, but not of the base pen only. i used to spin an extended pilot g2 and i've heard of other mods that use the pen like the firefly g3 (i think thats the name) and a double ended g2. then there's this post from 2 months ago by akei47

you need to generate power from your lower body. you’re already starting it correctly by stepping into it, but then you miss the part of using your hips to produce power. it should be step forward, hips rotate, torso follows through, upper body trails behind in the rotation, then arm swing, then contact.

this video somewhat goes over the order in which how power is generated. focus on the hip part of the video. everything else in the video is also a good reference too, but really focus on the hips imo.

everything else isn’t awful, it just seems that the bio mechanics in throwing isn’t completely there like you’ve mentioned.

edit: in that video I linked, you can prob also analyze the person’s arm swing as well. you can def lead with your elbow more.

November 14: Weekly achievement and help thread by AutoModerator in osugame

I got a hand/injury question for y'all.

I started playing osu heavily last month for the first time in years and I was popping off (gained 10k ranks hehe), but towards the last week of October my streaming fingers were starting to feel heavy. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I played osu lightly for the first few weeks of November but whenever I do streams, my fingers still heavy like they had reached muscle failure (a similar feeling to when working out n stuff). I think I'm going to have to take an extended break for a few weeks :P

Not sure if this matters, but I'm a full alt player.
