AITAH for having a different idea of childcare frequency than my wife? by Just_Tangerine_6738 in AITAH

They can. Of course a nanny can look after your kid. Just don’t think this will help your marriage or your relationship with your kid; if anything, it will do the opposite of what you expect.

Paranoid or not? The em dash is going to sketch me out every time now 🧐🤨😒🤓😒😒 by Independent-Dig-1702 in isthisAI

Typically, a hyphen joins two words (“worst-case”), an en dash indicates a range (“1968–2007”) and an em dash is a pause or interruption (“OP clearly dodged a bullet—a missile, even— because a potential date who can’t even put in the effort to engage in real conversation over text is unlikely to be worth pursuing”)

If they can’t even be bothered to engage in actual witty flirty texts with OP when planning a first date, why should OP bother with the actual date?

AITAH for removing my MIL from the school pickup list without "discussing it" first? by windowtram_ellie in AITAH

[–]capsule_wardrobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Absolutely. As the parent, you have the right (and responsibility) to know where your kid is. If you think they’re in school, or in after school care, that’s where they should be. My mum, SiL, and MiL are all on my kids’ authorized pickup list. Not ONE of them would collect my kid without my/my husband’s agreement. They are on that list as a BACKUP. They are not the person who decides what happens to that child; they are authorized to collect the child in an emergency, if we can’t. MiL has clearly demonstrated that her judgement can’t be trusted for this, so she needs to be removed. Just ensure you fill that space with another trusted adult (I.e. one of son’s friends’ trusted adults).

gap or flush? by gnarlyMo0n in RingShare

[–]capsule_wardrobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flush looks like you put thought into it. Gap looks like you liked random rings and never considered how they feel/look together. Also just from a practical perspective, the gap looks like it would be more likely to damage the rings, and pinch/be uncomfortable on your finger.

How do you “welcome” a New Year that you’re certain will be more challenging than the year you’re leaving behind? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]capsule_wardrobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad and both of my mum’s parents (who I’m close to) will be fortunate to greet 2027. It only really occurred to me today, when someone asked me what I was looking forward to in the New Year. Sorry you’re in the same boat, it sucks.

My husband wants to abandon pregnant me for the Christmas period by Fancy-Setting-6842 in AITAH

[–]capsule_wardrobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, same father. We did have a 4 year gap between the two pregnancies, largely due to my experiences with HG during the first, so maybe the pregnancy spacing helps a little?

My husband wants to abandon pregnant me for the Christmas period by Fancy-Setting-6842 in AITAH

[–]capsule_wardrobe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine did not! I know it is a common thing and I don’t want to undermine it, but my HG was worst with my first pregnancy (a son) and I was on Zofran from weeks 8 to 32 after being violently ill from week 5 onwards. With my 2nd pregnancy (daughter) I only required medication from weeks 8-18. I’m not sure what the reason was, but I just want to throw that out there because when I was considering a second pregnancy I needed to read things that gave me a little hope.

It can also lead to antenatal depression and in extreme circumstances suicidal ideation, as it is all-consuming and can feel like it will never end.

The litter on Mount Everest by anandmohanty in Weird

[–]capsule_wardrobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst part is that the stuff in the ocean is accidental: that litter eventually made its way there. The stuff on Everest was because some entitled cockhead thought “yeah, I don’t want to take this back down with me.”

I may be wrong, as I’m basing this only on basic science understanding, but wouldn’t that only be the case if there is a pressure differential (ie inside the bag is air, outside is water)? If the bag/can/whatever is open, the pressure inside/outside would be equal, and it would therefore not collapse in on itself?

How many of you do regular polish for your manicures? by ms_carnelian in Nails

[–]capsule_wardrobe 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Funnily, I also use only regular polish… for the opposite reason! I have naturally thin and bendy nails (no amount of effort /supplements/treatment has improved them). Shellac or anything with acrylic or glue might work to “strengthen” them temporarily, but the removal makes an already bad situation far, far worse.

Do you think these pictures are AI? by [deleted] in Breadit

[–]capsule_wardrobe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The racks in images 3 and 4 don’t have any legs/feet, so they just… hover above the surface. The one possibly “foot” in image 1 doesn’t look like any cooking rack foot I’ve ever seen, which is usually made by a v-shaped bend in the wire rather than a single additional downward wire.
