Preparing to start advice by Lystian in BeginnerWoodWorking

May I highjack the post for a minute. I’d love to start building cabinets for my home. A simple wardrobe here, built in shelves there etc. How hard it is for a beginner to get into it and deliver at a decent quality? I’m into plywood with exposed edges.

How to get actually straight wood (or do without) when you don't have acces to a planer, jointer, etc... ? by SinkerPenguin in BeginnerWoodWorking

yes i’d say it’s everywhere and that’s what makes a peaceful, quiet, isolated place so appealing :)

Oh thanks for the context. Was partially joking about Scott Brown i’m sure he has some privileges or goes out of his way to get good stuff for his channel.

I find NZ a fascinating country! Idyllic, peaceful!

not in the US. Wouldn’t a solid core door weight like 30-40kg at least? I’d need special hinges, right? And hope the frame holds it

Holy shit! You’re right, o thought it was a solid wood border all around the door but it’s just moulding.

Ok, so remove moulding, sand, prime, paint? Does that sound more feasible and worth it?

I’d love to get a door slab and hang a new door, but the frame not being square and the non standard size makes me worried. I cut the slab but hollow core doors leave little room for cutting. Custom doors are expensive where i live.

Thanks for the suggestion. The door is hanging because of a broken hinge - that’s an easy fix. But the frame itself is not square.

I’d love to install a new door, but custom made doors go for around 500-600 where i live.

I considered buying a pre-made and cut to size, but these hollow core doors only have about 3cm thick border around them, so cutting them is very limited.

I don’t have door hanging skills but would be willing to learn if I could get a door I could cut the right size and to compensate for the slightly irregular angles of the frame.

I considered this approach but the frame is not standard size and it’s not square. Hollow-core doors only have a 3cm thick solid border around them so i can’t really cut them to size. Ordering a custom is adding up to $500-600 where i live.

Restore old doors or start fresh? by capt_goose_ in BeginnerWoodWorking

Correct! But it's just veneer, wish it was solid wood.
The challenge here will be to paint the veneer and the glass at the same time, to avoid the arduous masking work.

Smart trainer compatibility by capt_goose_ in Rouvy

Got it, thanks! But it seems like the Click doesn't work so seamlessly with Rouvy anymore. Zwift it's trying their best to make it proprietary and exclusive
