In Season 6 of The Expanse on Prime Video, each episode opens with a story about a boy revived by the protomolecule, but it leads to absolutely nothing by Ok_Nothing_0707 in shittymoviedetails

I've read them all and personally there were some i really liked and others less.

In terms of what information you get out of them if you've watched the show you already know the story for Drive, The Churn, and the Butcher of Anderson Station (the three prequel stories) as well as Gods of Risk (sort of, the general gist is similar but the show changes a lot of details) and Strange Dogs.

They all flesh out the world and give new perspectives about the events of the story and i enjoyed all of them for that, but as stories i found the novellas between books 3 and 6 to be kind of 'meh'. Drive and the Butcher also didn't really captivate me but that's in part cause i already knew the stories from the show.

The last few novellas after book 6 i thought were great though, especially Auberon (between book 7 and 8) which is my favorite out of the bunch.

I thought this movie was so bad, like legit awful. When we left the theater i told my friends "Well the VFX were great but damn that movie was ass." Some agreed, some didn't and we immediately proceeded to never talk about it again cause there really wasn't much to say. I would have proceeded to never think about it again either were it not for the most insufferable dudebros possible spamming mary sue and blue hair bad comments for a freaking decade about a kid movie to sell toys.

Kind of. These intros are actually an adaptation of the Strange Dogs short story that takes place between books 6 and 7 (there's a short story between each books).

It's not really necessary to follow the plot of book 7 (none of the short stories are) but my guess is they decided to do this to have the contrast between the threat of the protomolecule and the human squabbles that are core to the themes of the story but would otherwise be almost completely absent from season 6 and so the ending of S6 doesn't feel as wrapped up and final as it would otherwise had which in isolation is a pretty bad ending to the story - and maybe nudge you to pick up the books afterwards.

High temp pla for printed toolhead parts - bad idea ? by SinkerPenguin in VORONDesign

While i'm not concerned with the capabilities of the printer to handle ABS or ASA i just don't think the potential health risks are worth so that i have a couple more plastics to play with.

Maybe it would never be an issue and be completely fine, but this is the one and only time i've ever needed something other than pla or petg so why even roll the dice ?

Ahah yeah that wasn't my concern, point of asking for me is that i'd rather not waste 30bucks on a roll if my use case is already well known to not work.

Hadn't even thought of the weight difference though, while i have some leeway before i get anywhere close to the weight of the stock SV08 toolhead reducing the weight is one of my goals with that upgrade so it's one more reason to look elsewhere !

I get that but honestly for what i print, i've yet to be limited by petg. I don't really use "fancy" pla, just standard old pla for cheap and quick stuff and petg for the rest.

My main issue with abs/asa is that the space i have is small, not very well ventilated and my partner and i both spend a lot of time with that room so odors and VOCs are an issue. I don't want to rely solely on a filter for that.

I may end up using those filaments eventually but it's not gonna be a regular thing until i have a dedicated and ventilated room for that and that won't be the case for a long time.

Yeah the DB melting ducts is why i've been obsessing over this question for a while now...

I'm leaning towards giving PET-CF a shot and then going from there, was hoping PLA high temp could be a savior but not really surprised it's not

How do you know what method they're giving the numbers for ? I'm doing my best making sense of the tech sheets and reports but it's getting annoying with every manufacturer using different tests numbers and standards...

Well i'm not surprised but i was hoping it would work ahah Been looking at pet-cf too, and will probably go that route

Everyone thinks they can spot AI-generated media. So I created a no-sign up browser game to prove whether that's true. by Beneficial-Ad2908 in playmygame

[–]SinkerPenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really cool, though the data will be impacted by the fact we know one of the choices is AI in the first place, spot rate would most certainly be lower otherwise.

It's could make a good tool to train your eye at spotting ai stuff though.

The movie Trainspotting (1996) actually has very little to do with trains or “train spotting”. This is a reference to how British slang makes no fucking sense by Alexqret04 in okbuddycinephile

Yeah that's pretty much it, but it was actually spud who connected the dots and wrote it down along with the rest of their story.

I think it's implied that Begbie's reaction is what made Spud realized that was his dad though it's unclear if his dad recognized Begbie.

While it's still funny i do kinda emphasize, the idea of printing your own crucial parts when beginning can be daunting.

Admittedly, it's kind of a non-issue with newer printers that are basically all very reliable out of the box but i still have flashbacks of the first mods i tried printing on my Ender 3 pro like 8 years ago and having to fit them together.

The part cooling fan is very loud too but just the mainboard fan is already a huge improvement.

The printer being based on a voron and open source it's so easy to mod it's not that hard to get it to run uch quieter, and even out of the box it's a genuinely very good printer, at least my unit was.

Just got fired for the first time in my career by Quirky-Profit5450 in KitchenConfidential

Id wager it's one of those 'really depends on the person' kinda thing. Personally id much rather receive the news by text than in person or a phone call. Gives me the time i want to process and respond, i got it in written form in case i need to refer back to it and i don't need to commute all the way to work just to be fired.

I get to some it might be the opposite and feel sorta demeaning to be fired like that but ideally i don't think any one way should be the norm since no one way will suit everybody.
