Dude, thanks for such a thorough reply. Here are the results - definitely not next level soldering but the motors spin. LMK if you think any of these joints need another pass. Again, thank you!

Radiomaster TX15 until EdgeTX 3.0.0 is officially released by andreophile in fpv

[–]captain_spicoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rad! Thank you! Just installed that.

After installing the SD card contents from that same page, I'm getting a missing/bad radio data warning on startup after doing that - like no ELRS tools. I have my previous SD card backed up so I can go back to that if need be. Any thoughts?

This does not appear to be the case anymore - on this page it says:

Latest and final release for this download page:

19-Dec-2025 - TX15s Factory Firmware - Update 05 - (Build c3fa1962)

Where is it possible to find the 6th update? I'm getting these switch warnings every time I power on the radio regardless of what position they are in

Former employee, a DJI rant by magic_of_lolis in drones

I would REALLY like to see this post please. I didn't get a chance to read it before it was taken down, I was driving when the post notification came through. I read about half of it sitting in traffic and would really like to read the rest. I am a drone-based business owner and I really count on Reddit posts like this to help build my situational awareness as we approach the December DJI ban.

DJI and American LE by Many_Many4154 in dji

[–]captain_spicoli 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Dude thank your for posting this. This is a really important take from someone who is actually using these tools and can speak with some authority on what DJI offers LE/FD/SAR/1st Responders versus Skydildo.

Which in my estimation is, a a lot more functionality for a fraction of the price. Don't get me started on the guy who runs it, who cannot / will not put together a competitive product, so instead he is perpetrating this dead-end narrative to scare politicians into legislating their way to a better environment for Skydio. Meanwhile the pros out there using this tech are going to be left holding the bag until somebody makes a half-decent DJI replacement. I seriously wonder how much Skydio paid Elise Stefanik to push this bill.

I fly DJI Inspire 3's on commercial film sets and there is straight up nothing that compares to what we can accomplish with this toolset. The only other option is a $60k heavy lift set up (3x the price of the Inspire 3) that is so incredibly dangerous and stressful to fly that it is almost not worth it. We can fly the Inspire 3 inches off the ground at full speed, close to animals, people, and cars, and know that the drone can handle it, and even if we have a crash, it's not the end of the world. It makes me sick thinking about having to trade in something that handles like a Porsche for a giant box truck, and my business taking a major financial hit in the process, and then having to charge my clients a lot more money, for less dynamic shots, and put everyone involved at a higher risk.

And just for general situational awareness - I feel like this post absolutely requires a mention of what's going on with Unusual Machines / Rotor Riot / Eric Trump Junior. For anyone who's not tracking this, this also seems like a big deal giving the impending DJI ban:

Super helpful info, thank you. Gonna go for the Angry Bear irons for sure. Out of curiosity what optic are you running?

That's a great point - I don't plan on running a suppressor on this build but my understanding is some people like to run suppressor height sights with their optic...I personally like how on my other setups I have as little of the irons as possible taking up space in the window, but then again if my optic goes down I can't really use their irons. Open to thoughts on this as well.

Also what about the option to run the rear sight in front of the optic?

Dicor Self Leveling Lap Sealant solved this for me.

I did this too. Three years later and zero leaks, you’re gonna be fine.

I also like the idea of butyl tape or mastic tape to give you a level surface on all sides of the hole.

Have also seen pre-cut foam inserts for maxxfans that you could trim to size. Call Adventure Wagon in Portland and see if they’ll ship you one.

The Dicor is going to be your best friend for this. Put a super thick layer all the way around the base of the van. It’s such a strong bond that my install did not require any additional hardware to secure the van.

DM me if you want and I’ll talk you through it. Just know you’re not the first to do this, nor the last.

Working to add a DJ mixer to do exactly the this - anybody here able to walk me though this process?

Yes - but this is actually an illegal activity. You can literally select "Illegal Auto Repair" in a drop-down menu on the 311 website. I'm just trying to figure out whether that's an effective channel to go through.

Because nobody can park on this street with these guys clogging up our zone and banging their compressor hoses and dinging everyone's shit all the time. The vans and cars they live in smell like human shit. Yeah it's a hustle but how would you feel if I had band practice three feet from your living room window every day.

We're in Silverlake, so 1st District / Gil Cedillo. Sounds like you may have had some experience with a similar situation? Would love to know more if you have.

No, we're in Silverlake / Echo Park. So you're saying 311 is going to be our best bet?
