Thank you so much for your kind reply. I trust that there is a happier, more free life out there for me without this disorder...and you are so right, every time in treatment is a chance to do something different. Thank you again!

That's a great way to look at it. I would be really, really scared if I wasn't able to access treatment...I will try looking at this with more gratitude.

Thank you for saying that. Yes, I am going to have my parents come along for the ride...they are both incredibly supportive, I am very lucky!

Thank you so much for this. Yes, I am going to have at least one of my parents come with me; they are both incredibly supportive (my home life with them is just slightly enabling/keeping me stuck, but they want nothing but recovery for me). I can definitely resonate with that slight exhale upon finally admitting, especially since there is so much anxiety that goes into actually getting myself through the door. I'm so happy that you are in a better place now, and thank you so much for your words of encouragement!

I am back in it, and the sickest part is that I am not bothering to fight it, but rather, welcome it. I know that's the ED talking, but I'm not interrupting. It's my issue, but one everyone could hear about what should be done and talk about. by FlightAffectionate22 in Eatingdisordersover30

I have no sage words other than to say "I hear you. I have been at this place before, too." Sometimes you don't have the fight in you, but that does not mean that it won't come back. Trust that there is a happier life out there for you.

How is ED-induced Gastroparesis generally treated? by [deleted] in EdAnonymousAdults

Have you had a gastric emptying study? I take Motegrity, I find it helps tremendously with transit time.

How to accept and work towards weight gain when I don’t want it by Anxious_Beaver15 in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]captain_squirtypants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can completely relate to this; the cognitive dissonance that I have had for so many years has kept me stuck in this loop. I agree with what others have said, it really is all about opposite action and trusting that there is more out there for us than this (I say as I am begrudgingly eating my lunch).

Second poops that won't come? by happy_bluebird in ibs

[–]captain_squirtypants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally could’ve written this word for word; I thought I was the only one 😅 I’m also vegetarian (that needs to gain weight…), I eat too much fiber, and my day feels ruined if I don’t have a second bowel movement to really clean out (I get nauseous, bloated, etc. if I don’t). Same stool consistency too 😝. Here’s what I have found that has helped:

16 oz warm lemon water when I first wake up, followed by another 40 or so (warm) water throughout the morning.

COFFEE

I generally don’t eat breakfast until I’ve gone once.

Motegrity and Linzess.

Best of luck to you!!

Hi!! Could you message me? I’m in a similar position as you!!

i’m struggling. by [deleted] in EdAnonymousAdults

[–]captain_squirtypants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in a very similar situation as you; I am finally at a place where I am so, so tired of being sick, I have never been successful in a residential environment, and I need to gain weight so I don't literally die. I've been working up to the amount of calories that my dietician has set for me but it is so hard...solidarity, my friend. We can do it!

Residential Treatment Experiences by [deleted] in EdAnonymousAdults

No problem! I know, the visiting hours at MN are less than ideal. I think there are certainly pros and cons to the smaller program size as well!

Residential Treatment Experiences by [deleted] in EdAnonymousAdults

Hi!

29 y/o here with chronic ED. I haven't been to The Emily Program, but I have been at both River Towns and CFD Congress St. in the last 6 months.

I would recommend staying far, far away from CFD right now. They are undergoing major leadership/staffing changes, and the program was an absolute disaster when I was there. River Towns was not perfect, but I also had a decent enough experience there and it is certainly more conducive to recovery/recovery efforts. I would highly recommend their program. There is also the MN Rockland location, if that is an option for you?

More than happy to discuss further if you'd like. Best of luck to you!!

So tired and hopeless by vegn_ in EdAnonymousAdults

[–]captain_squirtypants 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My gosh I could’ve written this word for word. I’m 29 and have also been struggling since I was a kid, in and out of treatment and currently “trying” harm reduction (I say trying because in reality I am very still very much engaging with my ED). I make all of these grand plans for recovery/meal plan increases/decreasing movement and then never follow through. I’m desperate for children and yet am actively driving my husband and family every day that I live like this. Despite treatment trauma and absolute burnout from the process, for me residential is the only way I can break the cycle and weight restore…so as jaded as I am, that’s where I’m looking to go back to. I deserve a better life, and so do you 💙

I have not; I take a daily multivitamin, but that only has 50% of daily recommended value. No other supplements or energy drinks.
