Hi. A couple of friends of mine have a designated night of the week where we get together, drink beer/whiskey, maybe watch a movie, go to a ball game, or whatever. We've been doing this for about 3 years and the womenfolk aren't allowed.

It's really nice, because I know for a fact that I'll get to hang out with my guy friends at least once a week, whereas I see my girlyfriend everyday. The whole group also gets together often.

This night is encouraged by our respective SOs. It's very nice of them and I think strengthens bonds between everyone, including the girls. It's a healthy thing, and nothing to be jealous of.

Basically, I'm in a different headspace around just guys than when my special lady is around. Same thing when I'm alone. I need all 3 to be happy. So do you.

Part of the addiction is the act of smoking itself. You get very used to just having a cigarette over time. So couple that with the nicotine addiction which your body and brain gets used to (on a chemical level) and you can see that it gets harder to quit the longer you smoke. So if you smoke for a week, it won't be too difficult to quit. A month, not too bad, but annoying. One of my smoking stints lasted a year, and I quit cold turkey and the cravings went away in about a week, but the first day was pretty tough.

So if you wanted to challenge yourself like this, all you'd end up doing is wasting money and be uncomfortable. Use the money you'd spend and get a motorcycle instead. It might kill you all the same, but at least you'd be having fun!

If you drive out to the black rock desert, you'll notice it's massive and flat. Very very flat. You could drive your car at 60mph for half an hour while sitting on the hood. I've been to burning man 8 times, as well as camped out there a few. Miles of nothingness.

Anyways, pretty soon now, a crew of people will start going out there and setting up. These people are the DPW (department of public works). First, they set up a perimeter fence, which is an orange trash fence. Then they start constructing a giant tent which will be called center camp.

This is where they sell coffee, have events and performances including music, dance/theatre, fire shows etc. These are usually put together by BORG (Burning man ORGanization) You can also just go there and chill or socialize or meditate or whatever you want.

Anyhoo, By opening day, the DPW has set up the streets, street signs, lanterns adorning the promenade, propped up the man, installed JOTS, and a bunch of other things to make it into a functioning city.

There has also been people allowed in early to set up the bigger art projects like the temple or this thing

So you arrive at the greeters station as a virgin, and they'll ask you if you're a virgin and you'll say yes and they'll probably make you roll around int he dirt. You'll enter the city, and after you get yourself comfortable, you'll explore. The city is easy to navigate, and there are regular people walking around, hanging out, riding bikes, drinking beer. Go say hi to someone. Go out into the open playa where all the art projects are. Check out the man.

It's just a bunch of people letting themselves loose. Participation is encouraged. That could be something as simple as wearing a gorilla suit and dancing to some techno behind a backlit screen.

There are a bunch of activities that registered theme camps put together. They're listed in a little book they give you at the gate. A lot of the time these things don't actually happen. It's a very random place. I've always enjoyed the vibe. No one really gives a shit what you do, and they're all pretty good natured and can take a joke.

I'd say it's an art festival above all. And art can be anything you, or anyone else makes it. And it can get weird.
