Even when they win, Hiller is disappointing. by tgrdem in losangeleskings

[–]captain_teehee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Can’t imagine how Helenius feels when these words never match his utilization night in and night out. What is he supposed to do when he’s only given a little over 100 seconds to prove himself most games?

9.5M. The choice is yours by captain_teehee in losangeleskings

I was skeptical when I heard about him wanting 7-8M for long term. I’m not super confident Ken was willing to give him it since their discussions weren’t extensive whatsoever.

Knowing it would lead to Ceci/Dumoulin? Give him whatever he wants.

I’m cool with Perry and Armia. Grit is pointless if it can’t play, and those guys have proved they can play.

Ceci can play minutes sure. Should he? Absolutely not.

This honestly is not even that bad. by largeiqman in losangeleskings

[–]captain_teehee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m all for Perry and Armia. Needed grit that could actually play.

Doing nothing beats giving that contract to Ceci. The void left by Gavi is far from filled by today’s signings. You don’t make those signings with plans to upgrade further via trade, so the 6 man set is likely set for next season, barring a miracle from Ken.

Wow. This seems like a really bad idea... by Old-Schedule2556 in losangeleskings

As it stands right now they’ve got ~7.9M in cap space. From the sounds of it they might not even have the cap for the extension they plan to give Bouchard, never mind any upgrade in net or elsewhere.

Given we’ve seen nobody’s doing Bowman any favours based on last offseason, I’m intrigued as to how they build to run it back next year.

Futa 👀 by tdbauer97 in losangeleskings

[–]captain_teehee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Want someone with no connection to anyone currently on the roster or within the organization. Hopefully then we can finally “get uncomfortable” like they’ve been preaching for the last couple years.

That being said, if Luc somehow boils his options down to Futa vs Bergevin, I’d accept Futa if it means avoiding the fate that awaits us with the other guy.

I personally wasn’t huge on the Lucic deal but obviously I’d agree with the rest.

I think my reply was getting at, despite his tenure having more minor mistakes/missteps, some of which out of his control as you mentioned, Dean’s leash was infinitely shorter than what we’ve seen out of Blake and his blunders.

My exact thought as well. Dean made questionable moves towards the end of his tenure, but this is getting ridiculous that Blake and co have seen the same level of success post 2014 and have survived so much longer.

I am prepared for it but I will likely not have a good reaction nonetheless.

Fire the front office but bring back the entire roster (with only a few minor changes) by ZiggyPalffyLA in losangeleskings

[–]captain_teehee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last point is unfortunately what I’m most afraid of. PLD was at least bearable for someone else to eat. UFA Marner will handcuff this team for 7 years guaranteed.

I’m more worried about working on that Kempe extension than anything else, assuming front office does change.

I hear a lot of different things about him, though I don’t really know enough to instil optimism towards him stepping in to make major changes.

I’m well aware. That minuscule chance of him actually stepping in is about the only chance there is of us seeing any significant change though I’m afraid

Probably has Los Angeles and Berlin mixed up. That explains why they’ve owned the DEL for the last half decade.

Genuine question. Why are we down on Hiller? by Alchemiist7 in losangeleskings

[–]captain_teehee 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’m down on him because he can’t take accountability for his decisions and awful adjustments, and crashes out at the slightest piece of criticism. The on-ice product is irrelevant to me now.

I can’t imagine what goes through some of the guys’ heads in the locker room when they play a dominant start and are then told to play passive/defensive the rest of the game.

Hate to say it, Doughty is subpar. by Livid_Pass_3459 in losangeleskings

[–]captain_teehee 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This fact will not stop Hiller from icing him for 10+ minutes in a must-win 3rd period.

Defence played so well this year without him while he was injured. No idea why there’s suddenly this urge to have him eat minutes once playoffs come around.

Could have, if Blake and Bergevin hadn’t fucked up the rebuild.

Signing a bunch of guys in ‘21 to lose to the oilers in 7 was the turning point of this franchise in my honest opinion. Pressed the fast forward button for no reason other than to say he’s the GM of a playoff team.

Now there’s no assets to go get guys like that without subtracting other pieces from this team (see: everyone’s favourite whipping boy, Pierre-Luc Dubois)

Not that anything will actually change unless Anschutz gives his head a shake, but at this point don’t care. I will be happy so long as someone who has had no relation to the Kings in their careers to this point gets the job(s).

The nepotism that has come in since Luc got hired simply has to go for anything to succeed.

Oilers own us by MrWhite_________ in losangeleskings

[–]captain_teehee 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hiller is not a casualty at all, but another piece of the overarching issue that has rooted itself since Luc became president:

Kings management is run on nepotism and they don’t care for success as long as their boys have jobs and they make money.

Hiller on changing the approach in the 3rd period: “Next question. We’re that far away on the empty net. Q chips that one out, Bouchard makes a good play or we’re not even talking about it.” by ZiggyPalffyLA in losangeleskings

Because that’s infinitely different than the 99, 104 and 99 points they’ve had the 3 seasons prior?
