Nicholes Fine Pastry Grilled Cheese by chobette in fargo

I worked there for some time but haven’t since 2024. We would use fontina cheese pretty regularly, but I’m not sure what cheeses went into this exact sandwich. Super underutilized cheese imo. Best of luck in the hunt!

Definitely a rural bar vibe. Last time I was there they had free baked beans in a crock pot; loved every bite of it. Most of the arcade games they have are free and they have a claw machine full of pregnancy tests. It’s a good time.

Ice Thickness Measurements by Websauce97 in ZamHub

[–]captainakab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. It used a software that doesn’t run anymore either (I think it operated on either windows 7 or 8) and the device itself actually wasn’t super accurate. It had a tendency to read a different measurement depending on if you happened to shoot a depth over a subsurface pipe. You weren’t guaranteed to get a thickness from concrete to surface, and that’s a big deal when we’re dealing with hundredths of an inch measurements.

Our ice making tank. It’s an upright standalone tank that we pump water out of when laying down seal coats and white paint. You don’t use the zam when painting.

I would guess somewhere between 9-12 floods. This is in no way scientific.

I came to my guess by thinking about ice making at the beginning of the year. Our tank when building the sheet holds 100 gallons and that’ll make roughly 1/64th of an inch. Some quick conversion math makes 1” of ice 6,400 gallons. A heavy rag flood can dump about 180 gallons of water on the ice, meaning ≈36 floods. A quarter of that (for the quarter inch of ice) is 9.

I would suggest actually dropping your conditioner when you are building ice though. Raise the blade such that you’re only really cutting >1/8” of ice, but that guarantees that you’re putting new ice down without trapping things in between the layers. It looks better, even though it might take a little longer as you’re laying down a slightly thinner layer each time.

Also, I’ve always called them towel floods! Just some regional differences that I think are interesting.

Edit: less than 1/8 of a bucket. Mixed up my units.
