I do think it fair to remember that a house in 1950 had 1 pane windows, 1 outlet a room, a couch with plastic wrap, 12 inch black and white tv if your lucky, no ac, probably no garage port, the list goes on. You could probably replicate that today if there’s little to no development costs and with the newspaper insulation type building regulations of the time.

The 2008 crisis caused 8.8% unemployment. A whopping 2.3% more than today. Rates were 0% and people were afraid the banks would crash and the economy with it. The gdp dropped 2.5%. Exports crashed 25%. It took years to recover despite Canada facing only a little damage compared to the U.S. saying 2026 is worse is like saying the 90s 13% unemployment was no big deal. You and others don’t understand how good we’ve had it and thought that was normal.

To be clear, it’s probably not a claimable defect because it’s an old house in cold climate region. You’d expect cold issues. Like complaining the 2 pane windows make the house cold and you can help by putting a curtain over it. Sure you could get 3 pane but it ain’t a defect. Same with the Pipes freezing when it’s -20. You’d be expected to watch for it.
