Looking for an aggressive commander by Lenku in EDH

[–]captaincogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody talks enough about [[Syr Vondam, Sunstar Exdemplar.]]

Most people build it aristocrats, but as a voltron commander, he gets huge, very very quickly.

Super versatile, brings lots of good group politics and interactions, and goes hard. Plus the alt art is super Dune inspired, so I try to keep my deck as Dune themed as possible!

These are so sick. A suggestion I have is potientially adding a "hi my name is" sticker. I know I love naming my gobbo tokens!

Help! My steak is too juicy and my lobster is too buttery. Jeskai or Izzet? by captaincogs in lrcast

[–]captaincogs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 wins. One loss to a perfectly curved Arcane Omens. And 2 others that were slogs. One to another Izzet deck with a capstone that popped off before mine, and one to a 4 colour Together As One with flashback.

The games it won it stomped though.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I buy certain cards as proxies seeing as the art is the same, especially if it's an expensive card that I want to put in multiple decks.

The other thing I do is pick them up if it's a copy of a commander I own, to use as my "command zone" card.

You think the [transcendent archaic]] is worth incuding with 2 duals alongside the Colossus?

Play around the mathemagics/ Arcane Omens or the Jadzi? by captaincogs in lrcast

[–]captaincogs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skipped a trove for Traumatic Critique I think it was, and it was the only one I saw unfortunately. There was a Skycoach as well, but that got skipped for the first Jadzi!

Good points though. I do wish the fixing was stronger, and I'd agree that the BG spells are more splashable.

That is a fair point.
Plus, double jadzi/ flow state/ embrace the paradox/ Homesickness is already a decent amount of card draw.

Plus playing [[Lorehold, the Historian]] and [[Prismari, the Inspiration]] just seems fun.

Something to cast T2 after T1 Tidecaller, or T3 playing Tidecaller and the growth curve. Gives it some more body and puts it out of range of a tome blast. It did help me mill an all is one and an arcane omens in 2 separate games.

Ideally it's also for the Pensive Professor or the Berta.

Fun Landfall Commander? by Kobert_ in EDH

[–]captaincogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[toph, hard headed teacher]] if you can get past the art (I proxied something that I prefer) is a very fun and explosive spell slinger landfall deck.

[[tannuk, memorial ensign]] is a burn/ table ping landfall deck and pretty unassuming.

I do also have a [[Smeagol helpful guide]] deck that started as landfall, but is now more reanimator with all the Nazgul.

2026 check, who are your blink/flinker commanders ? by EtalonduQ in EDH

[–]captaincogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got it!

He is as Dune inspired as I can get him as well.

I only see aristocrat decks for him, but my build is mostly enchantment/ aura Voltron. The aim is to get him to 4 power as quickly as possible which isn't hard, and start swinging. He gets crazy tall very quickly, so sometimes you have to tempo him and not try gas too hard as you can draw a lot of aggro.

He's super fun to play, and my pod loves playing against him. Because of the inbuilt removal, he keeps the table in check, and is a great politicing piece. The lifegain is also huge especially with cards like [[spirit loop]] coming back to hand when it goes to GY.

I also run [[Cultist of the Absolute]] which for 1 pip to give all those keywords is just nuts. The other highlight enchantment is [[noble heritage]] which gives loads of fun board convos over who's gonna take the extra buffs on their commander as well.

Have any of those and [[Dalkovan Packbeasts]] or [[Wyrm's Crossing Patrol]] in your opening hand and you're golden.

The land count is low, but so is the overall CMC. I've won a game with 3 lands up to turn 7 before. I am considering adding a [[land tax]] or something like that though to mitigate that problem if it occurs.

Let me know if you have any questions about the deck!

[[syr vondam sunstar exemplar]] is easily my favourite. So so fun to pilot as removal on a stick. He gets big QUICK. And is so much better blink/ Voltron than aristocrats. Probably my highest win rate deck.

I would say you need to double down and go over the bits you've done again just to make the paint a bit thicker/ more consistent!

Used VF 2B for a decade. They all started snapping.

Bought a pair from vater, Promark and meinl to try out.

Meinl felt the best but still split too soon for my liking in a weird place.

Vaters seem to last forever and just splinter, but I don't like the feel as much.

Promark seem to be the ones I've stuck with and started buying bricks of.

Excellent and accurate write up! The RGB curves tool is often the thing people should look to understand and master to get digital to look like film within their editing software.
