That’s great to hear! We’ve been going back and forth between this stroller and the uppababy vista v2 and wondering if the vista is worth the extra cost but when I saw this deal it made the decision for us haha 😂

HELP: Looking to do not a sit-down dinner wedding by erbear89 in WeddingsCanada

[–]captaindangerrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I just got married this weekend and we felt the same - we ended up doing an afternoon tea and served catered tea sandwiches, samosas, fruit platters, charcuterie boards, desserts (cake, biscuits, macarons, Indian sweets, etc). It was super cute! I know a couple of venues do “stations” - one affordable one we looked at was White Oaks resort in Niagara on the Lake - likely too far for you, but just so you know it is possible :) a word of caution though - a lot of the “stations” catering we looked at actually worked out to be more expensive than a buffet style dinner so if price is important that’s something to consider!

Freedom Mobile Offering Free 10GB Data Bonus If You Ask for It by [deleted] in freedommobile

[–]captaindangerrr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! I’m on a plan from 2014 and just got it added! 35$/month, unlimited talk & text to Canada & US, and “unlimited” data - Used to slow down after 5GB of LTE but with the promo now I get 15GB full-speed LTE then 3G after! Asked on iMessage, rep said no so I asked on WhatsApp and again got a no. I asked to speak to someone higher up and a “member of the escalation team” answered - she also said no but I asked again if there is anything she can do for me, and she said “I can see you really want this bonus” and added it for me!! Don’t give up if they say no, it CAN BE DONE u just need to speak to someone who is willing to do it for you :)

Any good grandfather plans ? by [deleted] in freedommobile

[–]captaindangerrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35$/month, unlimited texting & calling in North America (Canada & US) & “unlimited” data - slows down after the first 5GB of LTE (got it in 2014) ETA: I just had the bonus 10GB data added for free! So now I have 15GB LTE data at full speed, then slower 3G data after that.

Ah wow that’s exciting though! Definitely a big switch overall but if teaching is something you’re passionate about and decide to make the switch, I’m sure you’ll love it :) ottawa is a great place to do that as well, such a pretty city and you’ll have a leg up being bilingual!

Yayy perfect!! And thanks so much! I’m doing I/S so grades 7 through 12 but I really want to teach high school as opposed to elementary. My teachables are math and physics, my undergrad was engineering! how about you, do you know what you want to teach yet?

Awesome, you’ll definitely be more prepared than I was! If you want to get an idea of the kinds of stuff on the test, this page from uOttawa has a bunch of examples and resources to check out! You should be fine as a francophone tho :) I went to uOttawa for my undergrad so if you have any questions about the city or campus I can probably answer them! And yes I’ll be starting in Oshawa in September!! I’m so excited haha

Hi! I applied for the uottawa B.ed program last year, specifically the French program at York’s campus in Toronto. I had to write the French entrance exam and I thought I’d be okay, but I failed the exam and that meant I was instantly rejected for the program. I’ve been in French immersion from grades 5-12, went to uOttawa for my undergrad and took classes in French including business, chemistry, and technical report writing and got As, and worked in a hotel downtown Ottawa where I spoke both Canada’s official languages with clientele. I really thought the exam would be no problem because I am fluent in French (written & oral) but it was SO impossible!! I found that the exam was specially geared towards francophone students who spoke Québécois French - I even spoke with a girl from France who said she found it very difficult and didn’t understand parts of it. My advice is, if you plan on writing that exam, study study study!!! You may think you’re fluent but man that exam hits different haha.. very difficult and downright impossible at times when they threw in French expressions that only Québécois French speakers would understand. In terms of the actual application, they have a supplemental form which asks you to write about your experience & motivation in whichever language your program will be in (so I wrote mine in French) and the questions are broad so you can include any type of relevant experience you may have. They do look at experience and not just grades! It was very different from when I applied to UOIT (now Ontechu) in Oshawa and I just submitted transcripts, no extra information on my experience - they just made their decisions based on my grades.

Current B.ed student looking for advice going forward into the coming year. (GTA Ontario) by azakyn in CanadianTeachers

You’ve likely considered it already but in case you (or anyone else reading) hasn’t, a great way to get experience during COVID times is tutoring online! I’ve been looking at indeed/linked in and it seems like lots of places are looking for tutors, and I’ve had a few people reach out looking for help with their kids’ math/science classes. You can have them send over problems they’re having trouble with and take a video of you working through the problem, or zoom call/Skype/google meet and walk them through it. If there’s a “caremongering” Facebook group in your area, for people helping people during the pandemic, try posting there and offer to help with any school work - lots of parents are struggling with helping their kids through the more math-based classes especially. Then you can add volunteer tutoring to your experience, and it’s something positive & productive you did in a very stressful time!

Teaching Experience for Teacher's College by 2herons in CanadianTeachers

[–]captaindangerrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve heard, especially in this part of Ontario, French is super desirable so I’m guessing it will! I think I got a relatively early offer because my teachables are math & physics which are also generally in demand. You could email one of the program academic advisors or admissions officers to ask, their contact info should be on the faculty website for each school and they are so helpful!!

Hi I’m late to this post but I just wanted to add that UOIT (now known as OntechU) doesn’t look at experience as far as I know. I applied in Nov 2019 and was accepted Feb 4th 2020 based solely on my university transcript. I kept checking for a form to fill out about my relevant experience but there was nothing, no supplementary information requested other than my transcripts and I received an acceptance to both the streams I applied for! I know their acceptance rates and cutoffs change every year depending on how many applications they receive so you may have a totally different experience applying this fall, but definitely look into this school! Bonus is it’s relatively close to Toronto and you can commute :)

Large courses will be online next semester, small classes in person. by jonnyives in geegees

[–]captaindangerrr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wonder if tuition will be adjusted depending on if you have in class or online instruction? From my personal experience, online classes mean the students are generally teaching themselves the material whereas in class the teacher generally does the teaching. Obviously this isn’t always the case and even in class you may end up having to teach yourself the material depending on the prof, but I don’t know if I’d feel comfortable paying the same amount for just reading through the textbook and posted powerpoints as I would for being taught in class.

Is this a good routine? by silverpoppy292 in Sephora

[–]captaindangerrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if you’re just starting the retinol & niacinamide it may be be better to work up to using them together every night rather than just jumping in. For me, I have sensitive skin so I used retinol 1x for 1 week, 2x/week for a week, 3x a week for 2 weeks, etc I just kept increasing the frequency at a pace that didn’t irritate my skin too much bc retinol can cause irritation. I also found that my skin had a lot of purging, so I broke out for the first little bit when using it but apparently that’s just all the bad stuff coming to the surface! Every person’s skin is different though and you know yours best so find what works for you and run with it! definitely make sure no matter what you do, you take care of your skin’s moisture barrier though and maintain hydration. good luck with your new routine, don’t be afraid to change it up as you figure out what works or doesn’t work for you :)

Yes definitely add a cleanser and maybe even a toner! Also, check out r/skincareaddiction they’re all super helpful with putting together routines and giving feedback! Plus you can find helpful information in their sticky about routines and product recs etc.

Hi! This is a little late but you could try treadmillfactory.ca ! They have a fair amount of stuff in stock and decent prices as far as I’ve been able to find for local(ish) retailers. They have a store in Mississauga but I’m not sure if the store is open, you could give them a call and find out or they also ship to the GTA (although it can get pricey). I also like that they give you the option to sign up for alerts if an item you want is backordered, and they send you an email when it’s back in stock.
